Jack Harlow Twitter Mostly Unimpressed ... W/ 'WMCJ' Reboot Trailer

Jack Harlow's acting debut got a first look this weekend in the new trailer for the rebooted "White Men Can't Jump" -- and the consensus on Twitter seems to be ... uh, yeah, no.

Indeed ... Hulu dropped the trailer for the flick Sunday, which is hitting their service exclusively in May. Everyone already knew Jack was attached to the project -- replacing Woody Harrelson's character from the OG -- and now ... the reactions are pouring in online.

While there are certainly some who were left impressed with what they saw -- specifically from Jack -- the honest truth is ... most don't seem all that interested in checking this one out, and they're voicing it in pretty passionate (and sometimes hilarious) terms.

The best way to get an unbiased read on how folks actually feel about it is to hop into the comment sections of film/rap/basketball blog accounts that reposted the trailer. It's there you'll see almost everybody echoing a similar sentiment ... this didn't need to be remade.

Then, there are the tweets specifically aimed at Jack's performance ... or at least what we've seen of it thus far. Those ones are little more harsh, especially since there are other white dudes that bird app users apparently would've liked to have seen more ... like Tristan Jass.

Others are harping on the fact that the studio here seems to have wanted to capitalize on Jack's music fame to boost this a bit -- which some see as gimmicky and unnecessary.

One Twitter user put Jack's performance this way in response to someone who said he doesn't come across as half bad in the role ... writing, "He's not white enough." 😅

The bigger takeaway is that people appear upset at the fact that Hollywood has rebooted yet another cult classic ... even when no one really asked for it. They did it again earlier this year with "House Party," and now there's this. Not to mention all the reboots of years past.

For the uninitiated, reboots are part of movie-making DNA ... so they'll be around no matter what. As for Jack, dude's probably too busy to listen to all the noise ... he's up for 3 Grammys tonight, so he's preoccupied. And besides, the film's done and it's coming out.🤷🏽‍♂️

As Billy Hoyle once said ... my name ain't chump!

Kyrie Irving Traded To Mavs ... After Request

Kyrie Irving got his wish -- the NBA superstar has been traded to the Dallas Mavericks, according to multiple reports.

News of Irving's intentions to leave Brooklyn were made clear on Friday ...with the 30-year-old telling the Nets to either trade him, or he'd leave in free agency in the offseason.

Now, Uncle Drew will be teaming up with Luka Doncic and the Mavericks, who sit sixth in the Western Conference standings.

In exchange for Irving, the Mavs will send Spencer Dinwiddie back to BK ... as well as Dorian Finney-Smith, a first-round pick and a handful of second-rounders, according to Shams Charania.

The Los Angeles Lakers, LA Clippers and Phoenix Suns were also reportedly in the running for Irving ... but there was growing concern over sending a haul for the guard, when he could bolt in free agency in August.

Nets fans were clearly upset with Irving's request out of Brooklyn -- and showed their feelings by booing him before the Nets vs. Washington Wizards game on Saturday.

Irving found himself in hot water during his time in Brooklyn ... after he controversially tweeted a link to a movie filled with anti-Semitic beliefs.

The 2016 champ was suspended over his actions, and the NBA and Nets called for Irving to denounce the contents of the film. Nike also announced it was cutting ties with the Irving.

Irving eventually apologized days later.

Reports say Kyrie's request out of BK wasn't about the money ... and even if the Nets were to offer him a max contract, he was going to leave regardless.

Ex-NFL CB Vontae Davis Arrested For DUI In Florida Cops Say He Was Asleep On Side Of Highway

Former NFL cornerback Vontae Davis -- who last played with the Buffalo Bills in 2018 -- was arrested for DUI in Florida, TMZ Sports has confirmed.

A spokesperson for the Florida Highway Patrol tells us ... officers responded to a crash involving two vehicles on State Road 821 in Florida on Saturday, Feb. 4 around 7:51 am.

Once officers arrived on the scene, they noticed a black 4-door Tesla with heavy front end damage and a bronze pickup Toyota truck with heavy rear end damage.

According to police docs, Davis, who was identified as the driver of the Tesla, failed to maintain control of his vehicle ... and collided with the pickup truck.

The force from the collision caused the pickup truck to hit a nearby pedestrian ... who sustained multiple injuries and was transported to the hospital.

Law enforcement authorities say they observed Davis -- who played ten seasons in the NFL with the Colts, Dolphins, and Bills -- laying down sleeping on the right shoulder of the road.

When police were interviewing Davis, they say they noticed his eyes were bloodshot, and he needed to lean on the barrier to prevent himself from falling to the ground.

Police say they asked Davis if he had been drinking ... he replied, "Yes, I had two drinks. Two mixed drinks."

Officers say they asked Davis if they could administer a standard field sobriety test ... but the ex-NFL CB refused, saying, "No."

Davis was placed under arrest and booked for DUI in Broward County ... where his bond was set at $500.

Now batting for the Atlanta Braves ... Travis Kelce?!?

A former MLB scout tells TMZ Sports that very well could have been a possibility this year and beyond -- if only Kelce had opted to play baseball instead of football after high school.

Reggie Sanders -- who scouted for the Braves in the Ohio area as Kelce was starring at Cleveland Heights H.S. in the early 2000s -- tells us that in his several trips to see the teenager who grew up to be a Kansas City Chiefs star ... he was blown away by what he saw.

Sanders remembered the future tight end as a good hitter with blazing speed ... and noted the young Kelce, who graduated H.S. in 2008, was towering, too.

"He seemed like a big leaguer on a field of high school players," said Sanders, who worked for the Braves from 2002 to 2007. "He looks almost the same size today as he was in high school."

Sanders said after watching Kelce play, he was "certain" the guy would have ended up in the big leagues if he had stuck with it ... telling us, "I remember writing his report and I comped him to Josh Hamilton."

Of course, Kelce never stayed with baseball -- he opted to follow in his big brother's footsteps and play football at Cincinnati. The rest, as you know, is history ... and he'll be playing for his second Super Bowl championship next week.

Kelce, though, still has baseball on his mind from time to time ... participating in celebrity home run derbies often -- and even once joking about leaving football for the diamond as well.

Deion Branch got a little taste of what being a college head coach would feel like when he was thrust into the interim role at Louisville in December ... and now, he tells TMZ Sports he could see himself handling the role full-time one day.

The former NFL receiver had to step in at the 2022 Fenway Bowl on Dec. 17 after then Cardinals HC Scott Satterfield bolted for Cincinnati -- and Branch shined as fill-in head man, leading his alma mater to a 24-7 victory.

Branch -- who had been UL's Director of Player Development last season before taking the interim gig -- called it all a "great experience" ... and one he could see himself doing every day somewhere down the line.

"I loved it," Branch said. "I loved every second of it."

The 43-year-old said seeing some of his former peers -- including Deion Sanders -- succeeding in the coaching world has given him a bit of an itch to score a job going forward too.

LeBron James breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's scoring record won't silence his critics, so says his former teammate Michael Beasley ... telling TMZ Sports, "they gon' keep hating."

Remember, James is only a few points away from becoming the NBA's all-time scoring leader -- a record that Kareem has held for almost four decades.

You would think with such an accomplishment, the ones who doubt King James would come around ... but Beasley says that won't happen, even when he's crowned.

"They gon' keep hating," the former NBA power forward tells us at LAX this week.

"It's a good percentage of the world that just wanna go against the grain. That's literally what we get. We get the ones who wanna go against the grain."

Beasley -- who played with LBJ in Miami and Los Angeles -- says James deserves respect from the doubters ... and they have no choice but to give him his flowers after this feat.

"He earned it," MB says, "You can't really say too much after that, you know. He the best."

Doug Williams I Teared Up When Mahomes, Hurts Made Super Bowl ... Was Like When Obama Got Elected!!!

HISTORY IN THE MAKING
TMZSports.com

Doug Williams tells TMZ Sports he teared up after Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts officially made the Super Bowl ... comparing the moment to when Barack Obama first got elected.

Williams, the first-ever Black starting quarterback to win the Lombardi Trophy, said the tears never quite spilled over onto his cheeks -- but he said they were there, and they were filled with happiness nonetheless.

"I had tears of joy in my eye because I had an opportunity to witness this," the former Washington signal-caller said.

"Sit there, and just look at it, and say to myself, 'Man, we got two Black quarterbacks playing in the Super Bowl.'"

Williams said he had similar feelings when Obama beat out John McCain in the 2008 Presidential Election ... and also when Tony Dungy and Lovie Smith coached against each other in the Colts vs. Bears Super Bowl XLI.

"Things like that," Williams said, "give me joy. Give me chills."

Williams became the first Black QB to win a Super Bowl in 1988, when Washington beat Denver in SB XXII. Since then, Russell Wilson and Mahomes are the only two who have accomplished the same feat.

Williams called the upcoming Mahomes vs. Hurts matchup a huge step -- but said there's certainly more he wants to see in the NFL ... and across society as a whole.

NASCAR's Ross Chastain On Banned Wall-Ride Move I'm Taking It Like 'Badge Of Honor'

ONE FOR THE HISTORY BOOKS
TMZSports.com

NASCAR star Ross Chastain says he's honored that his iconic wall-riding stunt is now banned in the rule book ... telling TMZ Sports, "I'm proud that I'll be the first and last guy to successfully do it.

Remember, the 30-year-old Trackhouse Racing driver went viral for his video game-inspired move at Martinsville Speedway last year ... when he shot from 10th place to 5th on the final lap to secure his spot in the Championship 4 by hitting the wall to reach insane speed to cross the finish line

While the move was considered legal at the time, NASCAR recently emphasized its rules to make sure the stunt isn't replicated in the future.

"I'm good with it," Chastain told Lucas Widman ahead of the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum. "I'm proud that I've got a rule named after me, right?"

Chastain explained his inspiration for the move after the race ... saying he "played a lot of NASCAR 2005 on the GameCube" when he was 8 years old.

The wall-ride is now explicitly stated as a big no-no in the rule book, and Chastain says it's a tip of the cap to his team ... and their ability to push his car to the limits.

"I take it as a badge of honor that I want my crew chief and my engineers and my mechanics pushing the limits of the car -- I don't want to break the rules, but I want them to have to write new rules and explain things more clearly where we might find a gray area on the car."

As for whether he'd ever try the move again ... and he makes it clear it was a one-time thing.

"I don't want to do it again," Chastain said. "I don't want to see guys doing it. And, I'm proud that I'll be the first and last guy to successfully do it."

NASCAR is in Los Angeles on Sunday for the race at the L.A. Coliseum ... and it's safe to say no one will be purposely slamming into the wall.

John Salley Kareem Should 'Be Proud' Of LeBron ... For Breaking His Record

TMZSports.com

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar might have mixed feelings when his scoring record gets broken ... but John Salley says the Lakers legend should ultimately be proud to pass the torch to LeBron James when he passes the Hall of Famer on the all-time list.

The 4-time NBA champ broke it down for TMZ Sports at LAX ... comparing the situation to another sports record that many believe to be impossible to break.

"The same way my boy Eric Dickerson thinks about anybody trying to break his record ... you don't want nobody to break your record!" the 58-year-old told us.

Nonetheless, Salley still believes Kareem will come around and give James his flowers when the Lakers star beats his record of 38,387 points.

"I think Kareem will take his hat off to him, be proud of him," Salley said. "He should."

Salley's comment may come off as shocking since he didn't believe LeBron was gonna break Kareem's record to begin with ... saying on Shannon Sharpe's Club Shay Shay podcast a few months ago, "I think they’re not going to let him get it."

He's obviously had a change of heart since then ... saying, statistically, James will be "the greatest player to ever play" and the way he carries himself off the court is admirable.

"What he's doing in television, film, the dude has definitely set the bar what a professional athlete is supposed to do," Salley said.

"I said I didn't think anybody was ever gonna break his record, but I'm so happy LeBron is breaking his record."

James is only a few points away from becoming the all-time scorer ... and barring something crazy, it's definitely happening.

UFC's Derrick Lewis I Feel Rejuvenated ... 'I Love This Sport Again'

Derrick Lewis is coming off two straight losses, and some have suggested he's on the verge of retirement ... but the Black Beast insists it's just the opposite -- for the first time in a while he loves fighting!

"I'm feeling good. Rejuvenated. I love the sport again. I love fighting once again. I love doing the training inside of it, once again. I'm feeling pretty good. Feeling confident and feeling ready. Feeling hungry like I used to be whenever I first started and I'm excited to see how it turns out Saturday night."

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

37-year-old Lewis, the #7 ranked heavyweight, will take on Sergey Spivak at UFC Fight Night from the UFC Apex on Saturday ... and Derrick has visions of working his way back to the top of the division.

Of course, the division is in a bit of flux after champion Francis Ngannou parted ways with Dana White's organization ... and Derrick believes he can still win the strap.

"The path [to the title has] always been there, but you know, I really just got to take my time, fight by fight. I can't really think that far ahead. I believe I still got a couple of fights to go and get back into that [title fight] talk. So, we just gonna take care of business Saturday and see where things go from there."

As for what changed to make Lewis fall in love with MMA again, he says he just realized he was better than how he performed as of late.

"I guess coming off the losses that I had and just knowing I could do way better than that."

Steve-O to Bam Margera: I'm Bracing for Your Death, Brother ... I Can't Do Anything To Save You

Steve-O says Bam Margera has yet again fallen off the wagon -- which leaves him with no choice but to accept that his old friend might turn up dead one of these days.

As you know, Bam's been on the road with his 'Jackass' costar ... opening for Steve-O on the first leg of his comedy tour. Bam even brought his son Phoenix onstage with him at one of the stops. All seemed to be well -- that is, until Bam posted a shocking caption this week that spurred a hard truth from Steve.

THE BOYS ARE BACK
Steve-O

Bam threw up a pic of himself, Johnny Knoxville and SO, writing ... "One arm is a best friend who had my f***ing back all along, another arm is a poser. A pro creation thief. If Jeff tremaine was in this photo, he would be to greedy to fit. F*** jeff. Remember I tattooed that on me long ago jeff? It’s because I knew who you were all along."

He added, "@steveo much love and respect."

Steve-O responded in a since-deleted comment ... which is pretty hard to read. He accuses Bam of staying up all night and getting loaded after the last show -- when he made the post -- and says he's now bracing for the prospect of hearing about Bam's passing, and there is nothing left he can do to save him.

While Steve might've nixed the comment, his feelings haven't changed -- telling TMZ he'll never stop being there for Bam if he wants to actually achieve sobriety. But if not, he says he's done all he can ... and that there's nothing more he can do to try and make him want to recover. He decided to delete the comment after a few minutes and had nothing else to add.

As we've reported ... Bam's been on a very turbulent journey over the past year or so, hopping in and out of rehab facilities -- oftentimes under a court order -- and continuously finding himself in situations where he's partying his face off and drinking to excess.

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

It's sad. At this point, even his closest allies who remain in his corner are starting to wane.

Bam, unfortunately, doesn't seem to be taking Steve-O's words to heart -- he's still posting videos on Instagram goofing off. No response yet to Steve-O's ominous words.

Donovan Mitchell, Dillon Brooks Punished For Roles In Fracas

UPDATE

3:52 PM PT -- The NBA announced Friday afternoon that Dillon Brooks has been suspended one game for his role in the melee. Donovan Mitchell, meanwhile, was fined $20,000.

UPDATE

Brooks, the league said, will serve his ban on Feb. 5, when the Grizzles play the Raptors at home.

All hell broke loose when Dillon Brooks hit Donovan Mitchell below the belt during the Cavs vs. Grizzlies game on Thursday ... with both players getting ejected after a physical altercation.

The heated moment went down in the third quarter of Cleveland's 128-113 win over Memphis at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse ... with Brooks missing a shot and throwing his arm back -- making contact with Mitchell's groin -- as he fell to the court.

Mitchell -- who's been dealing with a groin injury this season -- immediately retaliated by throwing the ball at Brooks and shoving him.

Players and coaches for both teams intervened before things could escalate even worse ... but both players were booted from the contest.

Mitchell went after Brooks in his postgame presser ... saying the guy has a reputation for being a dirty player.

"That's just who he is,'' Mitchell told reporters. "We've seen it a bunch in this league with him. Him and I have had our personal battles for years."

"Quite frankly, I've been busting his ass for years."

"This has happened to other players throughout this league, and it's bulls*** if I'm being honest with you," he added. "It's complete bulls***. It's one thing, you know, you got Ja [Morant], you got [Desmond] Bane, you got Jaren Jackson. Those guys, they talk s*** and that's fine, that's all a part of basketball. We all grew up playing that way."

"But when you start doing little cheap s***, that ain't it."

Cavs coach J.B. Bickerstaff also addressed the scuffle ... saying, "A guy should have the right to stand up for himself. I thought Donovan did that. I'm proud of our guys."

"We don't have those guys that start s***, but we have guys who don't run from s*** and you have to in this league."

Mitchell says he will appeal the ejection -- as he says he was defending himself.

The Cavs backed Mitchell in the locker room after the game ... honoring him with the Junkyard Dog Chain, which goes to the grittiest player of the game.

Seth Rollins just went in on Logan Paul -- saying he REALLY doesn't like the guy ... while adding that the former YouTuber should leave the WWE and go back to "buying counterfeit Pokemon cards."

The WWE superstar unleashed on Jake Paul's older brother during an Instagram Live sesh on Friday ... just days after the 27-year-old shockingly eliminated him from the Royal Rumble.

Rollins insisted he ain't alone in his dislike of the WWE newbie ... saying other wrestlers can't stand him either. He then questioned Paul's real reasons for joining the org.

"At the end of the day," Rollins said in his two-plus-minute rant, "he's just not a wrestler. You know? He doesn't want to be a wrestler. He just wants to be famous."

"He doesn't care about the industry," Rollins added. "He's not a wrestler."

Rollins did throw at least one compliment Paul's way -- giving him credit for his athleticism -- before he trashed the guy again for the way he booted him from the Royal Rumble and celebrated about it afterward.

"I took my eyes off the ball," Rollins said. "That one's on me. But, don't go bragging about it like you did something otherworldly."

Seth then advised Paul to stay in his lane.

Unclear if it's all a setup for a future Rollins vs. Paul fight -- or if Seth truly does hate the dude -- but either way, a potential matchup between the guys at WrestleMania 39 at SoFi Stadium in April just got that much spicier.

Former NBA player Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf -- best known for his refusal to stand for the "Star Spangled Banner" before games -- says Colin Kaepernick once told him he never felt freer than after kneeling for the National Anthem.

TMZ Sports spoke to the former #3 overall pick, whom many people compared Colin to in the wake of the protest, about a meeting he had with the NFL star a few years back, after Kap opted not to stand for the anthem as a way to highlight racial injustice, police brutality, and oppression in the U.S.

Abdul-Rauf says he didn't know Colin well, but did spend time with the quarterback a few years back.

"We never talked a lot, but we did meet up in the Bay Area when he was going through what he did," Abdul-Rauf told us.

"We had a mutual friend. We met in like a private office. We spoke for about an hour. We just shared information and if it resonated, we took it."

And, Mahmoud says there was one thing Kaepernick said that stuck with him above everything else.

"The biggest takeaway for me during that whole night was when he said this is the most freedom he's ever felt in his life. I said to him, 'well, it's because of this freedom that allows people like yourself and those who came before us and those who'll come after us to take those risks and do what you did.'"

Mahmoud says he saw similarities between what happened with him and Kaepernick -- and how they were treated after they chose to protest the anthem -- so he reached out to the signal caller to express support.

Despite not playing football in years, Abdul-Rauf believes 35-year-old Kaepernick would still like to play in the NFL.

"I would imagine he still does because when you grow up like we did," Mahmoud said ... "many of us start young. And so we train and that becomes a life for us. It's in our DNA. You just don't turn that off."

NFL's Marquise Brown Pleads Guilty In Speeding Case ... After Cops Say He Did 126 MPH In A 65

Marquise Brown pleaded guilty to an excessive speeding charge on Wednesday ... six months after cops accused the NFL star of going 126 MPH in a 65 MPH zone.

The Cardinals receiver showed up to an Arizona courtroom to enter the plea ... and you can see in video of the hearing, obtained by TMZ Sports, he was wearing a black sweatshirt and black pants for the proceedings.

He didn't speak much while in court, though he and his attorney did tell the judge he was changing his initial plea of not guilty and pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of excessive speed.

Brown is now facing a fine of up to $500, 30 days in jail, and/or 1 year probation as punishment. He'll learn his fate at a sentencing hearing next month.

The 25-year-old was initially pulled over on Aug. 3, 2022 ... after cops say they caught him going 61 MPH over the speed limit in a 2020 Mercedes on a highway in Maricopa County.

Brown was arrested and booked into jail.
