Tina Fey may soon make her grand return to "Saturday Night Light" as head honcho ... well, that's if Lorne Michaels has anything to do with it.

The show's longtime executive producer said Tina could easily take over the reins when he inevitably retires -- though speaking at the Emmys red carpet Sunday, he said nothing's set in stone cause other people were also in the running.

Lorne clearly has a soft spot for Tina ... praising her as brilliant and great at everything she does ... adding she's a very important person in his life.

The 79-year-old co-created the iconic comedy sketch show in 1975 ... and he plans to hold onto his legacy for another year -- staying on until at least the show's 50th anniversary next year.

Tina kicked off her 'SNL' career in 1997 as a writer ... later promoted to head writer in 1999 and then became a cast member in 2000 ... leaving six years later to write and star in "30 Rock."

Meanwhile, Tina fans did get to see her back in her 'SNL' roots alongside Amy Poehler ... the pair reviving the show's iconic "Weekend Update" segment for the Emmys -- a great moment resulting from two competing networks coming together.

We broke the story ... sources told us that Emmys producers over at Fox approached NBC's 'SNL' peeps to make the throwback moment happen.

Nicole Kidman says size matters ... at least she used to think so when she went in for auditions.

The Oscar winner shared she used to lie about her height during a recent interview with the "Radio Times Podcast" ... admitting she'd shave a half-inch off her stats when casting directors asked.

NK says despite being 5'11" she used to tell CDs she was 5'10" and a half ... not much of a difference, but a lie nonetheless.

The Australian star says people called her "stalky" when she first arrived on the acting scene, and was told a tall woman like her wouldn't have a career.

However, that's changed in recent years with Kidman saying, "Now, I get, ‘You’re so much taller than I thought,' or men grappling with how high my heels should be."

Another interesting anecdote ... NK was nearly turned away from an audition for the musical "Annie" when she was a kid, because she was 2 inches above the 5'2" cutoff line.

Kidman says she's trying to impart courage and resilience to her kids -- she has 2 with Tom Cruise and 2 with Keith Urban -- teaching them how to react when they hear the word "no."

Actress Lynne Marta – best known for her film roles in "Footloose" and "Joe Kidd" --- has died in California.

Marta passed away Thursday at her L.A. home after she was diagnosed with cancer, according to the Hollywood Reporter. It was not clear what type of cancer she had.

Born and bred in New Jersey, Marta moved to Hollywood to pursue a career in acting, landing parts in several big movies.  She snagged the role of Elma in the 1972 western classic, "Joe Kidd," starring Clint Eastwood and Robert Duvall. She also played Lulu Warnicker alongside Kevin Bacon as Ren in 1984's "Footloose."

As for her TV work, Marta appeared in producer Aaron-Spelling's "The Mod Squad," "The Rookies," "Starsky & Hutch," "Charlie's Angels" and "Matt Houston." Marta also had small parts in Quinn Martin-produced telecasts, such as "The F.B.I.," "Dan August," "Cannon," "The Streets of San Francisco," "Barnaby Jones," "The Manhunter" and "Caribe."

Her personal life was tied to her day job. Marta reportedly had an open relationship with "Starsky & Hutch" star David Soul while he was married to Karen Carlson.

In 1983, People magazine wrote, "All through the 'Starsky & Hutch' years, David and Lynne lived together but spent time with other people." Earlier this month, Soul died at 80 ... his cause of death was not disclosed.

Marta was 78.

Breonna Taylor's mom is thanking Niecy Nash-Betts for mentioning her late daughter while winning her first Primetime Emmy ... praising her for using her platform for justice.

Niecy won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in an anthology series, and her powerful acceptance speech prompted a standing ovation ... with Niecy saying, "I accept this award on behalf of every Black and Brown woman who have gone unheard, yet overpoliced, like Glenda Cleveland, like Sandra Bland, like Breonna Taylor!”

Breonna's mother, Tamika Palmer, tells TMZ … it's "amazing" Niecy used her big moment to  "acknowledge women, including my daughter, who have tragically fallen victim to police brutality."

Niecy also told the Emmys audience she feels it's her responsibility as an artist to speak truth to power, and she plans to do so until the day she dies.

Breonna's mom adds ... "The lack of accountability for these injustices is undeniable, and it is crucial for us to keep saying their names and reminding people of the profound impact of their loss."

As you know, Breonna was shot and killed by cops in Louisville during a botched raid back in March 2020, and her death sparked demonstrations against racial injustice and policing.

Brett Gelman doesn't see anything in Netflix costar Noah Schnapp's views on Israel that warrants an apology ... and he's not afraid to speak his mind about what's going on in Gaza.

We got the "Stranger Things" star at LAX and our photog asked him about Noah sharing a video restating his position on the Israel-Hamas War.

Brett says he actually liked the viral photos of Noah with stickers reading "Zionism is sexy" and agreed with Noah calling out Hamas as a terrorist organization.

BG goes even further ... telling us anyone who is not pro-Israel is consciously or subconsciously being antisemitic.

To be clear, Brett says he's not blindly for everything that's going on in Israel, acknowledging there are some issues just as there are in every country and telling us he's not a fan of Benjamin Netanyahu ... but Brett says he supports Israel and the Israeli people.

Brett says Israel has the right to defend itself against Hamas attacks ... he says he's been over to Israel recently and there are still being rockets launched by Hamas, who he also accuses of using civilians as human shields.

Noah's message was about unity, hope and peace ... and Brett says he's staunchly against the death of innocent Palestinians, but wonders why those deaths are being blamed on Israel and not Hamas.

It's rare to see a celebrity being so open about the Middle East these days ... but Brett's not shying away.

As for the possibility they have an official reunion on an episode of 'SNL' -- one source says there's no immediate plans.

Paul agrees an endorsement deal for dried mangos makes a whole lotta sense now.

In case you missed it ... Paul had a mouthful as he took the Emmys stage to accept his award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie ... later explaining he was munching on mangoes.

Paul told reporters backstage at the Emmys his agent gave him the dried mangoes as part of an inside joke ... and he promised to eat them on camera.

While Paul says his award season success isn't bringing him new roles just yet, he has a new and fun way to make some extra cash here. It's a fun conversation ... and Paul tells us which types of fruits he likes to wolf down.

Before scrubbing up for his Hollywood fame, Brad Pitt would happily go days without showering -- at least according to Jason Priestley ... who used to live with the dude.

The '90210' alum reflected on their brief time living together pre-fame along with one other person in a "crappy part of L.A." ... telling the tale on "Live with Kelly and Mark" Tuesday.

JP says the roomies would frequently play a game to see who among them could go the longest without bathing. And as it turns out, Jason says there was a consistent winner.

According to him, it was Brad who usually made a clean sweep of the disgusting competition ... which leaves us wondering if he still would've become Hollywood's biggest heartthrob if people caught wind of this alleged stink-fest back then.

Thankfully, Jason says he doesn't think he's into those games anymore, given his flashy A-list status and all -- although he says he can't confirm this definitively.

Luckily for both J&B, their days cramped up together in a small apartment didn't last long as they both catapulted to fame in the early nineties -- Jason in "Beverly Hills, 90210" & Brad in "Thelma and Louise." After that, the rest was history.

Safe to say, they're anything but washed-up actors these days ... although, it sounds like BP might've needed a bath or two while he was trying to break into the biz.

Fortunately, those days are behind them, and their careers have been showered with praise.

Alec Musser died by suicide -- and the nature of his death is gruesome ... TMZ has learned.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office tells TMZ ... the 'All My Children' star was discovered dead last Saturday by his fiancée at their Del Mar, CA home -- and according to the report provided, it says he suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

We're told Musser's fiancée went to bed on Friday evening, and awoke the next day to find AM slumped over on their bathroom floor ... with a firearm near him as well.

The ME's office goes on to say that 911 was called, and when paramedics arrived -- Musser was confirmed as deceased. They note the firearm that was used was a shotgun ... and his death is listed as a suicide.

TMZ broke the story ... Musser's fiancée, Paige Press, confirmed his passing to us this past weekend, but didn't elaborate on the circumstances at the time. She later took to social media to remember her partner as "the best fiancé I could of ever asked for."

Musser is most famous for playing Del Henry on the soap hit 'All My Children' -- not to mention roles in 'Grown Ups,' 'Desperate Housewives' and other shows here and there.

He was only 50.

La Oficina del Médico Forense del Condado de San Diego le dice a TMZ que la estrella de "All My Children" fue descubierto muerto el sábado pasado por su novia en su casa en California y de acuerdo con el informe proporcionado, dice que sufrió una herida de bala autoinfligida.

Se nos dice que la prometida de Musser se fue a la cama el viernes por la noche y se despertó al día siguiente para encontrarlo desplomado en el suelo de su baño con un arma de fuego cerca.

La oficina del forense continúa diciendo que llamó al 911, y cuando llegaron los paramédicos, se confirmó que Musser había fallecido. Señalan que el arma de fuego que se utilizó fue una escopeta y su muerte está catalogada como un suicidio.

TMZ publicó la historia... La prometida de Musser, Paige Press, nos confirmó su muerte el pasado fin de semana, pero no dio más detalles sobre las circunstancias en el momento. Más tarde tomó las redes sociales para recordar a su compañero como "el mejor prometido que podría haber pedido".
