Michael Peña plays in a band, but music isn't really an escape for him ... because he's just going from one gig to the next ... keeping his day job as an actor too.

But, as Michael explains, the grind never stops ... he's on his way to Mexico to play a show, but then has to fly back down to Australia to film at the end of the week ... so he's got a lot on his plate.

A Frontier Airlines passenger claims he was left with severe burns and "disfiguring" scars on his privates after a scalding cup of hot water spilled on his lap ... detailing the extent of his alleged injuries in a new lawsuit.

In a court document obtained by TMZ ... the man, named Sean Miller, says he was flying home to Pennsylvania from South Carolina in September, when the hot water brought to him for a cup of tea ended up spilling onto his crotch region.

Miller claims the water was given to him in a "highly negligent fashion," noting the cup was filled to the brim with piping hot water.

Taylor Swift's getting a big police escort up in Canada and, while some fans say she completely shut down a freeway in the city, we're told that's not true ... she only partially shut it down.

Here's the deal ... T-Swift's up in Toronto for a few "Eras" tour shows -- and, yesterday, video surfaced of the pop star and her team getting Justin Trudeau-level treatment in the city, with cops leading her down an empty highway on the way to her show.

The move pissed off a lot of people in the city ... who posted videos to social media calling Taylor out for totally shutting down the highway and causing traffic jams -- but, cops tell us that isn't exactly the case.

The Pentagon is coming clean about a number of unidentifiable flying phenomena in a new report ... including one "near miss" encounter between a commercial plane and a UFO on the East Coast.

The eyebrow-raising case, which was among 757 instances explored in the report, took place in the past year off the coast of New York state. Per the annual report, an airline crew flagged a "near miss with a ‘cylindrical object’ while over the Atlantic Ocean" to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Though it's unclear when exactly the instance took place, or which airline was involved, the Pentagon's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office is investigating the matter ... as there may have been a "flight safety issue" during the unexplained encounter.

A Scandinavian Airlines flight experienced such an extreme case of turbulence, the Miami-bound flight was forced to pull a U-turn and return to Europe ... and the harrowing ordeal was caught on video.

The Thursday flight departed Stockholm, Sweden and was already more than halfway to its final destination in Florida when it pulled a U-ey due to turbulence over Greenland ... later making an emergency landing in Copenhagen, Denmark to make sure all was well after the dramatic jolt.

Check it out ... passengers were lifted out of their seats -- some even hitting the ceiling -- screaming out as the plane pulsed up and down in the air. Food, personal belongings, and a bunch of other random items were thrown around the cabin ... which was packed with 254 passengers inside.

Passengers onboard the Spirit Airlines flight struck by gunfire are speaking out in the aftermath of the harrowing ordeal ... confessing the situation left many "traumatized."

"Good Morning America" spoke with 2 passengers after their flight from Florida to Port-au-Prince, Haiti was diverted when gunfire damaged the aircraft as it approached to land in the city ... with bullets piercing the cabin, injuring a flight attendant.

Passenger Jean-David Desrouleaux said he heard a "clock, clock, clock" sound before realizing it was bullets striking the plane. He said he wasn't alone in the revelation, noting a few others realized the gravity of the situation in the aftermath of the shooting.

12:18 PM PT -- The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) tells TMZ ... the Spirit flight landed safely in the Dominican Republic at about 11:30 AM local time today, after it was damaged by gunfire while attempting to land in Port-au-Prince.

Two other U.S. flights were diverted as a precaution, and Haiti's Toussaint Louverture International Airport has since been closed, the FAA confirms.

Check out this clip taken on a Spirit flight from Dallas to Los Angeles, which appears to show a rat running above an overhead bin during the approximately 3-hour flight.

The rat's feet can be seen through the opaque glass with light illuminating its snout ... lording over the airplane populace while a group of people film it.
