Houston Astros legend Craig Biggio is still struggling to believe his son is a successful big leaguer ... telling TMZ Sports, "I'm still having a hard time putting it into words."

"It's incredible," the 53-year-old Hall of Famer says.

24-year-old Cavan Biggio is a rising superstar for the Toronto Blue Jays -- he was one of the team's top prospects in the minor leagues before he got called up just a few weeks ago.

Now, he's hitting in the heart of the Blue Jays' order ... and in his first-ever 125 MLB at-bats, he's got 6 home runs, 24 runs scored, 23 RBIs and 5 stolen bases.

Craig -- who's in NYC this weekend to watch Cavan play against the Yankees -- tells us it's a great feeling seeing his son's success ... and adds that the two talk ball from time-to-time after Cavan's games.

As for the advice Papa Biggio is shellin' out to Cavan?

"Just keep working hard!"

#Noted

By the way, Craig Biggio played for the Astros from 1988 to 2007 -- racking up more than 3,000 hits and 1,175 RBIs while making the All-Star team 7 times!

He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2015.

HAVE SOME FUN
TMZSports.com

The home run derby has ZERO chance of screwing up Vladimir Guerrero Jr. ... so says MLB legend Jason Giambi, who tells TMZ Sports the rookie phenom should do it with no worries!!!

"They're a lot of fun," Giambi says.

Of course, Vlad has reportedly agreed behind the scenes to take hacks in the MLB's home run contest next month ... but nothing's been made official yet.

Some in the baseball world are hoping the 20-year-old will reconsider ... because the derby has been known to lead to players' slumps and even injury.

But, Giambi says he has NO fear of that for Vlad Guerrero's son ... telling us out in NYC this weekend, "He's a great player. He's got an incredible dad. So, he's learned a lot in the game."

"He's well beyond his years."

As for Giambi, he tells us he loved doing the derby ... and if you don't remember some of the shows he used to put on in the batting cage, here's a refresher ...

Enjoy!!!

SOME DAY
TMZSports.com

Marcus Stroman just admitted to TMZ Sports he wants to pitch for the Yankees ... telling us, "One day."

Of course, the superstar pitcher is still a member of Toronto's squad, and he says he's "focused on my time with the Blues Jays now."

But, with the Yanks reportedly interested in the 28-year-old NY native ... he made it clear to our camera guy before hittin' the Blue Jays team bus Wednesday -- he'd be fine with the move!!

Stroman has previously hinted he's down to rock the pinstripes ... telling a group of reporters earlier this week that he's "built for the bright lights."

Unclear what the Yankees are willing to offer for Stroman -- who has a 3.04 ERA and 77 strikeouts in 17 starts this season -- but they do desperately need a starting pitcher for the second half of the season.

Could Stroman's clear willingness to be a Yankee help move trade talks along??

Roger Clemens' Son Plays In Alumni Game ... 1 Month After Alleged Brutal Beating

Kacy Clemens -- son of MLB legend Roger Clemens -- seems to be recovering well after allegedly being beaten at a bar last month ... 'cause he hit the diamond Saturday and looked fine.

Kacy, his dad and his fellow baseball-playing brother, Kody, all took to UFCU Disch-Falk Field in Austin, Texas this past weekend for the University of Texas' annual alumni game.

The trio of Clemens' all played -- Roger pitched for an inning, while Kacy and Kody manned the rightside of the Longhorns' infield.

Neither brothers did much at the dish ... reportedly only reaching base once in four plate appearances -- but it's interesting Kacy was even out there regardless.

Remember, Kacy claims in a lawsuit filed just last week that he was roughed up by bouncers at a Texas bar during a New Year's event.

In fact, Kacy's lawyer claims the first baseman was beaten so badly, his throwing arm was injured ... but judging by the video, looks like Kacy's healin' up.

The 24-year-old was an 8th-round draft pick by the Blue Jays in 2017 ... and has batted .246 in his two-year minor league career.

BTW ... in case you were wondering -- Roger's still got it. Take a look at this filth he was throwing at 56 years old!!!!

MLB's Mat Latos Hit with Restraining Order Allegedly Terrorized Ex-GF

Mat Latos -- an ex-MLB pitcher who made $28 mil in the bigs -- has been ordered to stay away from his ex-girlfriend after allegedly slashing her tires and threatening to kill her.

TMZ Sports has obtained court docs which show Mat's ex-girlfriend went to authorities in Florida to report several incidents in which she claims Mat physically and emotionally abused her ... dating back to 2017.

According to court docs, the woman claims the first incident occurred back in Sept. '17 -- when Mat got angry and flipped over a bed while she was still on it.

"He tackled me to the floor, picked me up and slammed me on the couch where he got on top of me pressing his forearm on my throat."

The woman claims Latos then backed her into a wall and told her, "I'll f**king kill you."

"He then spit on me, put water in his mouth and spit more."

She claims the abuse continued in January 2018 -- when Latos locked her in her closet.

In April 2018, the woman claims Latos slashed her tires with a knife. She reported that incident to police.

In August 2018, the woman claims Latos got violent again -- but this time she hit back, elbowing him in the jaw. She claims a witness will back up her account.

The woman claims she's in fear for her life -- especially since Latos owns "multiple guns."

A judge granted a restraining order on August 28 requiring Latos to keep at least 500 feet from the woman at all times -- and it's been extended until October when the case is due back in court.

We reached out to Latos for comment. So far, no word back.

30-year-old Latos was a stud during his 9 seasons in the Big Leagues -- striking out more than 1,000 batters while playing for the Reds, Padres, Blue Jays and other teams.

His best year was 2010 when he finished 8th in the Cy Young award voting.

MLB's Roberto Osuna Arrested for Assaulting a Woman

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Roberto Osuna was arrested for assaulting a woman Tuesday morning ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ Sports.

Our sources say cops got an emergency call during the alleged attack and raced to the scene.

Once they got there, Osuna was arrested for assault -- we're told the alleged victim is in a relationship with the MLB star.

Osuna has since been released from custody -- he's due back in court on June 18.

The 23-year-old was an All-Star in 2017 and was a prodigy as a child.

He signed with the Blue Jays when he was only 16 years old and became the youngest pitcher in team history to appear in an MLB game.

He recorded his 100th save on April 10.

Blue Jays' Kevin Pillar Apologizes For Gay Slur 'Not Who I Am'

1:42 PM PT -- The MLB and Blue Jays have suspended Pillar for two games.

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Pillar is apologizing for using the homophobic f-word in a verbal attack on a Braves pitcher during Wednesday's game ... saying, "This is not who I am."

Pillar mouthed the word to Jason Motte after he struck out during the 7th inning. Both teams stormed the field but miraculously, it didn't get violent.

Now, Pillar is owning up to hurling the horrible slur -- "[By using that word], I had just helped extend the use of a word that has no place in baseball, in sports or anywhere in society today."

"I'm completely and utterly embarrassed and feel horrible to have put the fans, my teammates and the Blue Jays organization in this position."

Pillar says he personally apologized to Motte -- but wants to reach out to the LBGTQ community and express his regrets for the "lack of respect" he displayed during the game.

"This is not who I am and will use this as an opportunity to better myself."

The MLB is investigating the incident to determine any possible punishment.

There's no MLB conspiracy against the Toronto Blue Jays -- and Jose Bautista's suggestion that the ALCS is rigged against his team is "silly" ... so says MLB on FOX's play-by-play guy Joe Buck.

Quick background ... Bautista said there are "circumstances" working against the Blue Jays -- and it doesn't take a brain surgeon to know he's saying the home plate umpires are favoring the Cleveland Indians.

So, how does Buck feel about the situation? Let's just say he doesn't agree ...

"Why would it would be rigged? Sounds more Trump-esque," Buck said.

"Silly. Totally silly."

There's more ... Buck also talks about Adrian Gonzalez's Trump Hotel protest and why he thinks the Dodgers, Cubs series will go all the way to Game 7.

You're looking at the man cops say threw a beer can at Baltimore Orioles outfielder Hyun Soo Kim during Tuesday night's American League wild card playoff game ... and now the hunt is on.

Hyun was running down a fly ball in left field during the 7th inning when some moron fired a beer can at him. Miraculously, Hyun still managed to catch the ball.

But cops now want to arrest the perp -- and have now released a photo of the man they believe threw the can.

"Investigators from 52 Division have been working closely with the Rogers Centre to identify the person responsible," cops say.

"Investigators are strongly encouraging this man to seek legal advice and turn himself into police."

"Anyone with any information on this man, is asked to contact investigators at 52 Division by calling 416-808-5200."
