Altoona Police tell TMZ ... they have increased patrols around the local McDonald's where LM was nabbed on Monday. We're told the additional eyes on the restaurant will likely continue at least until Mangione is hauled off to NYC ... something he's currently fighting in court.
Per the police, staff at the McDonald's didn't ask for the patrols ... but it is "common practice" when a high-profile crime occurs.

Olivia Ponton -- a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model who boasts nearly eight million followers on TikTok -- was the one who reported the burglary at Joe Burrow's Ohio home to cops ... this according to a police report, obtained by TMZ Sports.
In the documents, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office wrote Ponton called in the break-in at around 8:14 PM -- as 28-year-old Burrow was in the middle of his "Monday Night Football" clash with the Dallas Cowboys in Texas.
Ponton, the docs state, told officers that when she pulled up to the Cincinnati-area residence, she noticed a "shattered bedroom window and the room ransacked." According to the report, Ponton phoned her mother, who then called in the matter to cops.

4:47 PM PT -- Luigi Mangione, who is a top person of interest in the death of UnitedHealthCare CEO Brian Thompson, has been ordered to be held without bail after appearing in court for the first time Monday.
He was charged with forgery, carrying a firearm without a license, tampering with records or identification, and providing false identification to law enforcement.
While he did not enter a plea, Mangione reportedly spoke against 2 claims made against him ... including the suggestion he was criminally sophisticated.
Mangione's next hearing is set for Dec. 23 in Pennsylvania ... though, New York state is expected to issue a warrant.

The video obtained by ABC News shows a figure wearing what appears to be the same dark clothing and gray backpack shown in photos of the suspect previously released by the NYPD, loitering across the street from the scene of the shooting.
In the new video, the figure lurks among vehicles parked on the street -- then appears to move swiftly toward Thompson. As we've previously seen, the killer emerged from between SUVs parked in front of the New York Hilton Midtown hotel, approached Thompson from behind, and fired multiple rounds. The suspect then calmly walked across the street into an alley, before fleeing on a Citi Bike electric bicycle into Central Park, according to police.

A motorcycle crash involving a Palm Springs, CA police officer left ten people, including the officer, hospitalized during an annual holiday parade over the weekend.
The accident occurred around 6 PM Saturday as hundreds of spectators gathered to watch the 32nd annual Palm Springs Festival of Lights Parade. Dramatic video posted on social media showed the officer losing control of his motorcycle before barreling into a crowd of nearby people.
The police officer’s hand was reportedly severed during the accident.
