Some big celebs were ready to party down with Hillary Clinton ... but it may be a case of party interruptus.

Lady Gaga, Amy Schumer and others descended on the Javits Center in NYC to celebrate the first woman elected president ... breath held.

8:45 PM PT -- Check out the crowd at Javits when they found out Donald Trump won Florida, and took a a sizable lead in electoral votes. No joy in Muddville.

Lorde has officially made it out of her teens, and she did it with BFF Taylor Swift showing her how to milk paparazzi camera shots like a 20-something "it" girl should.

Lorde took a dive into ZZ's Clam Bar in NYC Monday night with Taylor, Karlie Kloss, Jack Antonoff and Lena Dunham along to celebrate her big 2-0.

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump's parties will be protected by a small army come election night.

Cops with heavy artillery are patrolling the area on the eve of election day -- with scores of muscle handling security at Hilton Midtown for Trump's party and also at the Jacob Javits Center for Clinton's bash.

The venues -- which are less than 2 miles apart -- are also getting protection from K-9 and counterterrorism units. More than 24 hours out ... officials are already super strict about who's getting access for party preparations.

Last week the FBI named NYC a possible target for an election eve terrorist attack.

Easy to see why this is the largest election detail the NYPD's deployed -- it's the first time since 1944 both presidential candidates will be in NYC on election night.

Hillary Clinton will NOT light up the sky over NYC if she wins the Presidency -- her campaign is calling off a planned fireworks show ... TMZ has learned.

The Clinton campaign had contacted the Coast Guard for permission to pull off a 2 minute long fireworks display over the Hudson River when the election results went final. The fireworks would be visible from the Jacob Javits Center, where she's holding her election night party.

But the Coast Guard tells TMZ ... Clinton's camp reached out on Thursday -- 2 days after her fireworks plan was uncovered -- to say it wouldn't be shooting off the 10" aerial shells, after all.

The Coast Guard says the campaign offered no explanation for the about-face. We've reached out to the Clinton campaign ... no word back yet.

Injured ankle be damned ... nothing was going to stop NY Giants star Victor Cruz from celebrating his birthday after beating the Eagles on Sunday.

The 29-year-old wide receiver hit up the Hunt & Fish Club in NYC last night following the 28-23 victory ... in which Cruz left the game with an ankle injury.

The injury didn't seem to bother him as he partied with the likes of rapper Fabolous, model Chanel Iman and teammates like Sterling Shepard.

Cruz turns 30 on Friday -- but clearly, he wanted to get a head start on the celebration.

Hillary Clinton's election night event is worthy of presidential notice ... and the joint's in full construction mode.

HC will be hosting a party of one sort or another at the Jacob Javits Center's Crystal Palace in NYC. Crews have already started building a stage, risers and stands for a huge audience.

We're told she's renting section 3E of the Palace -- all 119,000 square feet of it. The floor dimensions are 456' x 286', with 33 foot high ceilings ... and an occupancy capped at 3,930.

As of Friday, crews were also setting up the audio systems.

Kris Jenner had some star power at one of her weekend birthday parties Friday night, but the big guns were nowhere to be seen.

Kris celebrated #61 at Catch with Kourtney Kardashian, Scott Disick and his pal, Chris Brown.
