Sam tasted sweet victory at the Beverly Hilton Hotel before leaving for an after-party at the Chateau Marmont on the Sunset Strip.

Now we know ... it's way better than a door stop.

A ton of Hollywood celebs gave David Bowie the perfect salute after the Golden Globes -- a full-on dance party to the icon's biggest hits.

The impromptu tribute went down at HBO's after-party Sunday night. Jon Hamm, Harrison Ford, Rob Lowe, Jonah Hill and even Mel Gibson stopped by for the party at the Beverly Hilton.

We're told when news of Bowie's passing broke, the DJ started spinning Bowie's hits late into the night, and you can see ... the crowd LOVED it.

Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry had a hot night ... of conversation after the Golden Globes.

They seemed to be getting very cozy at the Weinstein Company and Netflix after-party.

But since Katy and her bf just did a duet of "Natural Woman" -- less than 2 weeks ago -- we're sure Orlando was just chatting about his fave John Mayer tunes ... and NOT her enormous boobs.

Cuba Gooding Jr. had a goood time after the Golden Globes -- partying, shadow boxing, razzing Uber drivers and cutting Sylvester Stallone a break for forgetting to thank black people.

The woman accusing Chris Brown of hitting her in the face doesn't have many fans in the hip-hop world, but her native Brazil loves her so much, they've asked her to reign as queen.

Governor Paul LePage from Maine may worry that black men are coming to his state to commit crimes and impregnate white women, but someone he named has come forward to provide help ... and a fabulous weekend in VEGAS YO!!!

As you know, LePage went off the rails this week, saying, "These guys with the name D-Money, Smoothie, Shifty ... these types of guys, they come from Connecticut and New York, they come up here, they sell their heroin, they go back home."

Darren Blatt -- a famous party promoter who goes by the name D-Money, has fired off a letter, obtained by TMZ, in which he tries to educate LePage.

The real D-Money offers up his vast credentials, and then says "I am not some 'hooligan' looking to come to the state of Maine to sell drugs and get a bunch of your resident women pregnant."

D-Money -- who's white -- then extends an olive branch, inviting the Gov to a big Vegas party with some huge artists, including Tha Dogg Pound and E-40 ... no doubt LePage's favs.

No word on whether the good Governor will bite.

The rain didn't stop a swarm of celebs from dining on steak and lobster, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Sean Penn, Kate Hudson, Joe Jonas, Paris Hilton, Nicky Hilton, Ryan Phillippe, Bella Thorne, Seth MacFarlane, Rachel Zoe, Amanda Seyfried, Suki Waterhouse, Emma Roberts, Francesca Eastwood, Jeff Beacher,Amber Valletta and Dylan Penn.

If Cade gets 10% from all of them, that's a lot of cash ... and cake.
