Carrie Underwood is celebrating her 33rd birthday while on the road, but a fan made sure she didn't miss out on the festivities.

Carrie was leaving a "BBC Breakfast" interview Thursday in London when a fan surprised her with a cake outside the studios. She seemed to love the sweet gesture ... but chances the country superstar actually bit into it are slim.

As they say ... never take candy from a stranger. Same goes for cake or pie.

Rapper Mos Def was turned away in a South African court Tuesday, after refusing to remove a turban on his head.

The American rapper faces charges of trying to leave the country with a bogus passport. He presented a "world passport," instead of his American passport and was slapped with the charge.

After being turned away, he returned with a loose scarf partially covering his head.

The world passport -- technically called "World Government of World Citizens" -- is not recognized by the country.

Katie was hanging with Maggie Gyllenhaal and Camila Alves -- and while there's no huge diamond set in it, the ring is getting a ton of attention ... possibly (okay, definitely) because of her longtime rumored boyfriend Jamie Foxx.

Jamie was also spotted wearing a gold band on his left hand the night before ... also in NYC.

But Foxx's rep tells TMZ they're not engagement or wedding rings. We're told Katie's ring isn't even a promise ring ... not from Jamie, anyway.
