Kel Mitchell Craving 'Good Burger' Reunion ... It Would Be 'All That'!!!

CLOSE TO HAPPENING
TMZ.com

Kel Mitchell has a serious case of '90s nostalgia because he tells us he wants to shoot his "Good Burger" sequel with stars from the original cast of "All That."

We got Kel out Tuesday night at A Simple Bar in Los Angeles and he sounded really excited about a potential 'GB' reunion ... with a twist.

We gotta admit, the prospect of a "Good Burger" sequel featuring Nick Cannon and Amanda Bynes sounds pretty juicy ... can we get fries with that?

As for the roots of the reunion ... Kel says the idea for a second helping started when he reunited with Kenan Thompson for a sketch on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."

While Kenan and Kel are both down for a reboot of the 1997 comedy, Nickelodeon execs haven't given it the green light because there's been so much turnover at the top of the network.

Kel tells us he's had tons of convos with Kenan about it, but it's in the network's hands now. Start firing off your emails, fans!

Kenan and Kel Welcome To 'Good Burger' Can We Get A Sequel?!?

Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell are hungry for a second helping of "Good Burger" ... but we've learned their craving is more fantasy than reality.

Our Nickelodeon sources say there has been NO movement on a "Good Burger" sequel because there has been so much turnover at the top of the network's leadership.

Kenan sparked this new wave of hope for a sequel when he recently revealed on 'Watch What Happens Live' that he and Kel would be open to a "Good Burger" reunion movie ... but the kitchen remains closed because it hasn't happened.

Our Kenan and Kel sources say longtime Nick producer Dan Schneider pitched the reunion idea, but he's no longer working for the network. We're told no one at Nick has seriously approached the idea, much less had a realistic conversation.

However, it's not all bad for those with a case of '90s nostalgia, because new Nick president Brian Robbins directed 'GB.' Brian is obviously a fan of the movie, so who knows what could happen?

The good news ... it sounds like "All That" is making a comeback, so Nick fans might get their Kenan and Kel fix no matter what.

'SpongeBob SquarePants' Creator Death Cert Reveals Ashes Spread Under the Sea

Stephen Hillenburg -- the creator of the hit Nickelodeon show "SpongeBob SquarePants" -- officially died of heart failure as a result of his ALS, but the more interesting tidbit ... his remains were scattered at sea -- and you gotta hope he'll rest in Bikini Bottom.

According to Hillenburg's death certificate -- obtained by TMZ -- the animator's immediate cause of death was cardiopulmonary failure due to ALS -- the diagnosis which he publicly revealed in 2017. The document also reveals that Hillenburg was cremated and his ashes were scattered at sea -- at least 500 yards off the coast of California, to be more specific.

As we reported ... Hillenburg died late last month after battling the fatal disease for more than a year. Nickelodeon called him "a beloved friend and long-time creative partner" and praised his seminal work on 'SBSP' as "a reminder of the value of optimism, friendship and the limitless power of imagination."

Hillenburg is survived by his wife and son. He was 57.

'SpongeBob SquarePants' Creator Stephen Hillenburg Dead at 57

There's no joy at the Krusty Krab -- Stephen Hillenburg, the creator of "SpongeBob SquarePants," died Monday after battling ALS.

Stephen first revealed his ALS diagnosis in 2017. He's survived by his wife, Karen, and his son, Clay.

Nickelodeon called him "a beloved friend and long-time creative partner to everyone at Nickelodeon, and our hearts go out to his entire family."

Steve created 'SpongeBob' in the late '90s, but he took a circuitous route to his TV and movie success. Hillenburg started out teaching marine biology in Orange County ... but eventually combined that knowledge of ocean creatures with his artistic talent.

He broke into TV as a director and writer on the Nickelodeon show, "Rocko's Modern Life" -- and then eventually started creating his 'SpongeBob' ... which debuted in 1999.

In addition to the TV series, Steve wrote both hit 'SpongeBob' feature films. The first one grossed more than $140 million.

Variety first reported Hillenburg's death. He was 57.

Enjoy a Krabby Patty today in his name.

RIP

'All That' Reboot Yes, Bring It Back & Keep it There!!! ... Says Ex-Stage Manager

kal
GREAT STARTING POINT
TMZ.com

A Nickelodeon exec recently expressed interest in rebooting "All That" ... and a former (adult) cast member thinks the idea is brilliant for more reasons than just nostalgia.

Kevin Kopelow -- who used to play the stage manager on Nickelodeon's 'SNL' for kids -- tells us he was thrilled when he heard Brian Robbins tell THR he wanted to bring it back. Brian said it should never have gone off the air ... and Kevin agrees.

Aside from the fact there'd never been anything like it on TV -- and there hasn't been since 2005 when it got canceled -- Kevin says the show was a perfect farm system for breeding stars like Nick Cannon, Kenan Thompson, Amanda Bynes and others.

As far as what might change if Nickelodeon actually pulls the trigger on the reboot ... Kevin tells us he thinks keeping the format simple would probably be best, just like 'SNL' has for all these years.

Kevin says he hasn't gotten word from anyone at Nickelodeon to reprise his role, but based on what he's telling us here ... it doesn't sound like he's saying no.

Nickelodeon Sued Over Child's Death ... At Resort Swimming Pool

Nickelodeon is being sued over the death of a child at a resort it promoted on the network.

The boy was swimming underwater back in May in the pool at the Nickelodeon Hotel in the Dominican Republic. The boy was swimming in the pool when his head became lodged between the legs of a Dora the Explorer statue.

The lifeguard on duty was standing near the area but did not see the boy in distress. The boy's stepdad noticed the child was missing and frantically asked the lifeguard for help. The stepdad and the lifeguard dislodged him and pulled him out of the water. They attempted to resuscitate him but couldn't.

The boy died ... the result of drowning.

The resort was promoted on the network and the parents saw the ad and decided to go there for vacation.

'Dora the Explorer' Young Dora Making Barely $9k ... For Live-Action Flick

A young actress playing a young version of "Dora the Explorer" could make less than $10,000 for her role in the upcoming live-action movie -- the question now ... is the studio swiping her of due dough?

According to Madelyn Miranda's minors contract -- obtained by TMZ -- the 9-year-old will receive $8,420 for a guaranteed week's worth of filming. She'll get around $3,500 a week if she films anything beyond that. Production starts Wednesday.

Considering her parts will probably only come up in flashbacks in the film -- Isabela Moner is playing a fully grown Dora as the main character -- we imagine she'll be collecting the bare minimum here.

There are a couple more perks though -- Madelyn will also get put up in a swanky hotel while on the job, and be given a daily allowance of $65. PLUS, she gets to fly business class during production. SCORE!!! ... maybe? The kid's only 9, so maybe she'll appreciate the relatively modest haul compared to some of her child star contemporaries ... who usually go on to make boatloads more for a sequel. Baby steps, we suppose.

Now, ya gotta wonder if Boots, Backpack and The Map are getting as good of a deal here.

Kids' Choice Sports Awards Rousey, Wilson and Phelps ... Bring Out the Family!!

Russell Wilson and Ciara are pocketing their babysitter dough tonight -- no need for one when you have to attend a Hollywood event that's actually for the kids.

Ronda Rousey and Travis Browne, Michael Phelps and Nicole Phelps also showed up -- families in tow -- for the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Sports Awards Thursday night in Santa Monica. Kinda the perfect award show follow-up to the ESPYs.

In fact, ESPYs host Danica Patrick is also at the Nick event with her bf, Aaron Rodgers. They don't have any kids, but they look damn good on camera, so ... good enough.

'Rugrats' Actor Cheryl Chase Angelica Pickles is Coming Back!!! Looks Like I Will Be Too

GIVE ME A CALL!
TMZ.com

Nickelodeon is rebooting "Rugrats" for a new generation of kids, and it sounds like the woman who played Angelica Pickles for years is coming back as well.

We spoke with voice actor Cheryl Chase -- who voiced Angelica for over 9 seasons -- not long after Nick announced the baby gang was being brought back for a new 26-episode season as well as a CGI movie.

Cheryl says she's obviously down to reprise her role and, appropriately ... Nickelodeon has already reached out to her to say they'll be in touch very soon. The show is reportedly still in the early stages of development, and a cast has yet to be confirmed.

She doesn't say for sure she's got the job locked -- but, c'mon ... she's got it locked. No pressure, but we better hear EG Daily's voice too when the reboot drops.

'Double Dare' Battle for Show's Name Gets Nasty

A heated competition's brewing over Nickelodeon's "Double Dare," but Viacom -- which owns the popular game show -- isn't playing around ... and filed a lawsuit to prove it.

According to new legal docs obtained by TMZ, a man named Charles Armstrong -- Prez and CEO of Armstrong Interactive -- filed trademark paperwork in January for "Double Dare" ... months before Nickelodeon aired the reboot of the show on June 25.

Viacom admits in the docs it let its trademarks for "Double Dare" expire in 2001 and 2002, but claims it has continuously used the name since the show's debut in 1986 for TV programming, live events and merch ... therefore, it never lost the rights to the name.

The company also claims Armstrong has a slimy history of squatting on classic kids' TV titles in an "illegal scheme" to "exploit the goodwill of other popular shows" ... including "Wonderama," "Kids Are People Too" and "Romper Room."

Regardless, Armstrong allegedly fired off a cease and desist letter to Viacom in May, warning the media company that if it went ahead with its relaunch of "Double Dare" ... it would be doing so "at its own risk" of legal action.

Viacom risked it and, along with airing the reboot ... is now suing Armstrong to get a judge to declare that "Double Dare" belongs -- and always has -- to Nickelodeon.

We tried reaching out to Armstrong ... nothing yet.

PAW Patrol Warns Chinese Copycats ... Paws Off Our Toys!

The toy company that makes all those PAW Patrol toys your kids, nieces and nephews love ... claims Chinese counterfeiters are taking a huge bite out of its bottom line, and duping millions of young fans.

Spin Master Inc. is suing the foreign counterfeiters, and according to the docs ... the copycats have been impossible to trace because they conceal their identity -- and frequently consumers have no clue they're buying a fake PAW Patrol toy from various websites.

Spin Master Inc. holds several trademarks for the popular children's show ... and, in the suit, says the counterfeiters use online aliases to avoid detection -- and ship their bogus toys in small quantities to avoid getting caught by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Spin Master wants the counterfeit websites shut down, and anyone caught to pay damages.

In the meantime ... stay woke, PAW Patrol nation!

Marc Summers TV Sitcom Revivals Helped Bring Back 'Double Dare'

SLIME READY
TMZ.com

Fans of "Double Dare" have TV shows like "Roseanne" and "Will & Grace" to thank for its comeback ... according to former host Marc Summers.

The "Double Dare" reboot returns this June with Marc as an executive producer. When we got him at LAX Wednesday he told us he'd been hounding Nickelodeon to bring back the game show for years, but they finally moved forward when they saw how other reboots were successful.

As for not hosting -- the new host is Liza Koshy -- Marc says it's got nothing to do with his OCD since getting down and dirty in the slime was never an issue for him ... which is kinda insane once you hear what they put in the stuff.

'Double Dare' Reboot OG Host Marc Summers Will Return ... With Different Role

The new "Double Dare" reboot will feature one very familiar face -- the show's OG host, Marc Summers -- but Summers' new gig has a different job title.

Nickelodeon is bringing back the hugely successful game show this summer, and sources close to production tell us Summers was a quick hire. We're told he'll hold an Executive Producer title and will also have a role on camera. However, our sources say he won't be the show's host -- that role is going to actress Liza Koshy.

"Double Dare" first ran on Nickelodeon from 1986-1993 with Summers and then returned again in 2000 as "Double Dare 2000."

The new "Double Dare" will feature two teams facing off in obstacle courses and answering various trivia questions for cash and prizes -- just like the original version. We're told some of the OG obstacles will be back in action. The show will return June 25th.

The official announcement regarding Summers rejoining the show is expected this week.

Blue's Clues Reboot Auditions No Steve Look-Alikes So Peep This ...

The "Blue's Clues" reboot is revamping the look of its host ... because they definitely do NOT want to find Steve Burns' doppelgänger, man or woman.

TMZ's obtained some of the requirements and the script they'll read from when the open call auditions get going this weekend. The casting sheet tells hopefuls they're first and foremost not supposed to wear hats, sunglasses or bring props of any kinds.

And goes without saying ... don't try looking like Steve (stand down, Steve). The dress code strictly says wear a plain t-shirt with ZERO stripes. Men AND women should be ages 18 through 25.

There were well over 1,000 submissions ... way more than originally expected. Here's a portion of the script:

BLUE’S CLUES OPEN CALL SIDES

Nickelodeon's 'Paw Patrol' You Steal Our Pups ... We'll Make You Heel in Court!!!

A lesson for costumed character enthusiasts -- if you hijack Nickelodeon's "Paw Patrol" characters ... they'll sic their legal dogs on your ass.

Nickelodeon's parent company, Viacom, is suing Hearrt Events for allegedly stealing its lovable animated characters from "Paw Patrol" and using 'em for furry mascots that get booked for meet and greets with kiddos.

In the docs, obtained by TMZ, Viacom says Hearrt hosts events where kids, or more likely their parents, pay $20 to "meet" the "Paw Patrol" squad, and get a photo with 'em. You can even get an autographed "paw print."

Viacom says the events co. isn't just using Ryder and his puppy pals' images without permission -- it's also selling unauthorized "Paw Patrol" merch at their events.

The media company wants a judge to shut down Hearrt's operation, and, of course, to award damages. We've reached out to Hearrt Events, but no word back.

Now, enjoy singing that theme!

Former 'Blue's Clues' Host Steve I'm Ready To Fight John Cena For My Old Hosting Gig!

031218_blues_clues_kal
FIGHT ME!
TMZ.com

Former "Blue's Clues" host Steve Burns is ready to take on 16-time WWE champ John Cena for his old post when the beloved Nickelodeon show is rebooted later this year.

Steve, who hosted "Blue's Clues" for 7 years, told us part of the magic of the show was that there was an average Joe in the driver's seat. So far, Nickelodeon hasn't announced who's gonna be the new host, and Steve's still in the running, but production is strongly considering a female stepping in to fill Steve's old, green-striped polo.

Cena auditioned for the hosting gig during the reboot announcement in a green-striped polo, too. Unclear if it was for real or not, but Steve seems up for the fight regardless.
