At least, that's what happened last night when Jermain Taylor -- who won the IBF Middleweight title in Mississippi ... just 2 months after he was arrested for allegedly shooting his cousin.
As we first reported, cops say Taylor FESSED UP to shooting his cousin during a domestic dispute in Arkansas back in August.
But despite the fact he was arrested for 1st degree battery and aggravated assault -- the powers that be in the boxing world ALLOWED Taylor to get in the ring and fight for the title.
He won.
Ex-NFL Star Larry Johnson ARRESTED IN MIAMI Broken Bottle Nightclub Attack
Ex-NFL superstar Larry Johnson -- once one of the highest paid players in the NFL -- was arrested in Miami Beach early Tuesday morning after allegedly attacking another man with a broken bottle.
The police report, obtained by TMZ Sports, reads like a scene out of a bad '80s fight movie -- where Johnson allegedly got pissed at another patron at the club inside the Delano Hotel for "taking drinks from his table."
The alleged victim told police Johnson punched him in the face, sending him to the ground ... and then "broke a bottle on the table and began swinging it toward him."
According to the police report, the victim told cops Johnson then punched him in the face a few more times while he was on the ground.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. According to police, at some point during Johnson's arrest, he told the officers he used to play for the Miami Dolphins.
Johnson last played in the NFL in 2011, but made his mark mostly as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs and still holds the record for most rushing attempts in a season.
Johnson has had a few run-ins with the law in the last few years -- he was arrested in 2012 for allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend ... and he allegedly spat on and threatened to kill a woman in a Kansas City nightclub in 2008.

Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Tom Johnson was TASED by cops at a Minneapolis nightclub ... BECAUSE PEPPER SPRAY DIDN'T STOP HIM ... this according a police report obtained by TMZ Sports.
Johnson was arrested early Sunday morning at Seven Steakhouse Sushi Ultralounge Skybar -- where he was allegedly causing trouble around 3AM.
According to the police report, Johnson was told to leave the building -- but refused ... so cops decided to break out the pepper spray.
But Johnson -- 6'3", 288 lbs -- wasn't fazed ... so cops broke out the stun gun.
He was eventually taken into custody and booked for disorderly conduct and trespassing.
Johnson posted $78 bail -- and was released later that day. He's due back in court on Oct. 17.
Johnson's agent has told the media he was confident the Viking's player would be exonerated.
'Ink Master' Judge Chris Nunez Arrested For DUI
"Ink Master" judge Chris Nunez was arrested Saturday in Florida ... after he got busted for driving under the influence.
The Spike TV star got pulled over for allegedly running a stop sign ... and he was eventually hauled off to jail for DUI -- according to the Broward County Sheriff.
It's unclear what Nunez was allegedly on -- booze or drugs -- but we're told he was released hours later on bond.
We reached out to Chris for comment, so far ... no word back.

John Elway's Son GUILTY in Domestic Violence Case
John Elway's son -- a former Arizona State University quarterback -- has been sentenced to domestic violence counseling after an altercation with his GF back in July ... TMZ Sports has learned.
As we previously reported, the 25-year-old was arrested in Denver back in May after getting into an argument with his girlfriend and allegedly dragging her out of his car by her hair.
According to the police report, Elway then pushed her down to the ground as she tried to get up.
Elway was initially charged with assault and disturbing the peace -- but struck a plea deal with prosecutors in which he agreed to plead guilty to the D.T.P. and in exchange the assault charge was dismissed.
In the end, Elway was sentenced to 1 year probation -- with "monitored sobriety" -- he was ordered to pay fines, can't own firearms and may not have any contact with the victim.
He was also ordered to complete 1 year of domestic violence counseling.

Josh Gordon Pleads GUILTY to DWI
Cleveland Browns superstar Josh Gordon plead guilty to driving while impaired in North Carolina this morning ... and if he stays out of trouble for 12 months, he'll stay out of jail.
As we previously reported, the WR was pulled over on July 5 in Raleigh after cops say he was speeding -- and during the stop, officers noticed he was boozed up (blew a .09).
Gordon was sentenced to a 60-day suspended sentence -- with 12 months unsupervised probation ... which means if he does anything stupid during the next year, like break the law, he'll have to serve the 60 days.
But if he keeps his nose clean, he'll stay out the joint -- the operative word being "if."
Adrian Peterson Booked For Child Abuse [MUG SHOT]
Adrian Peterson turned himself over to authorities early Saturday morning on child abuse charges ... faintly smiling for his mug shot.
Peterson was booked in Houston just after 1 AM and released a half hour later.
The football star is accused of beating his 4-year-old son with a tree branch ... hitting him so hard it left welts and caused him to bleed.
Peterson actually admitted to cops he gave his son "a whooping" and says it's the same treatment he got as a kid. Peterson's lawyer adds that his client "deeply regrets the unintentional injury."
The Vikings have deactivated Peterson for Sunday's game.
UFC Star Nick Diaz Popped for DUI Allegedly Tries To Puke Out Evidence
UFC superstar Nick Diaz was arrested for DUI in California last week -- and cops say to make matters worse, he attempted to "destroy evidence" by trying to make himself puke.
We've learned ... Diaz was pulled over around 2AM on Sept. 6th in Lodi, CA for a routine traffic violation -- and during the stop, cops say they noticed Diaz appeared to be wasted.
Diaz was taken to a nearby jail -- where cops say he went to the bathroom and attempted to make himself vomit in what seems like an effort to get the booze out of his system.
For the record, cops say Diaz was unable to pull his own trigger -- and never actually barfed.
He was eventually hit with 4 charges -- misdemeanor DUI, driving on a suspended license, obstructing a police investigation and destroying evidence.
Diaz -- who's supposed to fight Anderson Silva in January -- was eventually released on his own recognizance.
The UFC issued a statement saying they are aware of the situation and are gathering the facts.
Lynn Anderson Mug Shot Shockface! 70s Singer Popped for DUI
Grammy winner Lynn Anderson -- who had a string of hits in the 70s and 80s -- was arrested early Friday morning for DUI after a car accident in Nashville.
According to cops ... Anderson said she'd mixed alcohol and Rx meds before crashing her car.
The 66-year-old singer -- most famous for "(I Never Promised You a) Rose Garden" in 1971 -- has had a couple of previous DUI arrests ... and spent some time at the Betty Ford Center.
She was released on $5,000 bond.

'RuPaul's Drag Race' Winner Security Beat ME Up But I Got Arrested For Assault
The Season 2 winner of "RuPaul's Drag Race" got busted for assault ... but he tells TMZ he's the one who got beat down by a security guard during an autograph session.
James Ross, who goes by Tyra Sanchez, tells TMZ he was signing autographs at the Rainbow-Cactus Company in Virginia Beach a few weeks ago ... when a guy in the crowd started heckling him.
Tyra claims he approached the man to try to calm the situation, but a security guard for the venue suddenly grabbed him, slammed him to the ground, and cuffed him ... though he eventually let him go. He claims he suffered a cut to his head, a sprained shoulder, and bruises.
On Monday, Tyra went to police to file charges against the venue ... only to discover there was a warrant out for HIS arrest. He says he turned himself in, posted bond, and was released.
Tyra says he still plans to take legal action against the guard and the Rainbow-Cactus Company. We haven't heard back from the venue.

'Sons of Guns' Hayden Charged With Another Rape... From 22 Years Ago
Will Hayden's skeletons are running out of the closet ... because another person is coming forward claiming she was forcibly raped 22 years ago at 12-years-old.
The victim -- who is now 34-years-old -- claims she was living with Will at the time because a fire destroyed her home.
According to the law enforcement release ... she claims she and Will smoked marijuana together one night -- and then he allegedly placed his hand over her mouth, laid his entire body on top of her, and raped her.
The woman claims Will told her not to tell anyone ... and she didn't come forward earlier because she didn't know if her family would believe her.
Officials in Baton Rouge have now charged Will with another count of forcible rape ... as he still sits behind bars.
As we previously reported ... Will's oldest daughter Stephanie now claims she too was sexually abused by her father when she was a minor ... and plans on meeting with investigators.

San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Ray McDonald was arrested early Sunday morning on allegations of felony domestic violence.
Police in San Jose, CA tell TMZ Sports ... McDonald was arrested at his home at around 3:00 AM. No other details were known.
Earlier this week, NFL commisioner Roger Goodell announced the NFL would hand out stiffer penalties for players accused of domestic violence. The league took harsh criticism when it suspended Ray Rice for just two games following his domestic violence incident earlier this year.

War Machine Transferred to Las Vegas New Mug Shot
War Machine has now been transferred to Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas where he will faces charges in the alleged beating of porn star Christy Mack.
As TMZ first reported, the former MMA fighter was captured at a hotel in the Los Angeles area after he avoided police for days following the alleged beating of Mack and her new boyfriend at her home in Las Vegas.
He had been held in the Ventura County Jail until his transfer on Saturday.

Young Jeezy Accused of Packing AK-47 on Tour
Young Jeezy didn't have just any old weapon when he was busted Sunday ... he was armed with a military style AK-47 ... according to court docs.
We're told Jeezy is one of 6 people who've been charged with possessing the assault rifle ... a felony charge. All of the suspects were on the rapper's tour bus when cops found the weapon, and our sources say they all got charged because no one copped to owning it.
We broke the story ... cops searched the bus while investigating the deadly shooting at Wiz Khalifa and Jeezy's concert last Friday.
Two of Jeezy's entourage members are already convicted felons ... so they got 2 additional charges.

'Sons of Guns' Will Hayden Daughter: He Took My Virginity Child Rape Charge Added (UPDATE)
4:30 PM PT -- TMZ has obtained arrest docs in Hayden's case ... and Hayden's daughter is now backing up the allegations. She told investigators Hayden took her virginity in March, 2013 when she was 11-years-old. She said she was orally and vaginally raped almost daily, but did not report it because he threatened her physically.
According to the docs, the victim says Hayden told her, "Don't tell them nothing, because I'm all you got."
Will Hayden has been arrested again -- this time cops are adding a charge of child rape in the molestation case he's already facing ... TMZ has learned.
TMZ broke the story ... the "Sons of Guns" cast member was busted 2 weeks ago in Louisiana for allegedly molesting his 12-year-old daughter. Hayden was released after posting bail -- but we've learned he was picked up again today.
Law enforcement sources tell us the investigation led the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Department to tack on a charge of aggravated rape of a child. An arrest warrant was issued today ... and cops, aided by U.S. Marshals, nabbed Hayden in Livingston, LA.
Hayden told us after the initial arrest that his ex-girlfriend -- and mother of the child -- was making false allegations to get back at him for ending their relationship.

Young Jeezy Arrested Assault Rifle Found During Concert Shooting Investigation
Young Jeezy is currently behind bars for possession of an assault rifle ... and TMZ has learned the weapon turned up during the investigation into the deadly shooting at Wiz Khalifa's concert Friday night.
We're told Irvine PD executed a search warrant on the rapper's tour bus Sunday at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in connection with the shooting in Mountain View, CA ... where a man died after being shot 5 times.
Jeezy is on tour with Wiz ... and law enforcement sources tell us during the search cops found an assault rifle they believe belongs to Jeezy. Several members of Jeezy's entourage were also arrested for gun possession.
Jeezy's being held on $1,000,000 bail -- and he's still in custody.
