Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ ... the actor proposed to his girlfriend -- ABC7's Brianna Ruffalo -- on their recent trip to Italy, a pretty dang romantic place to bend the knee, we gotta say.

We're told the lovebirds traversed all over the country ... visiting Positano and Naples for a little summer R&R -- and apparently JL felt it was a perfect time to propose since Ruffalo's ancestors came from Italy.

Kevin Costner blasted off on the set of "Hidden Figures" ... but instead of a rocket taking him to space he says need morphine to relieve pain.

The superstar actor sat down for an interview with People released Saturday ... and, he talked about the hit 2016 film about several Black women and their contribution to the space race at around the 17-minute mark.

The longtime actor died Thursday at his home, the result of a long illness ... according to his rep, Jennifer Craig.

Martin played Leon Carp on "Roseanne" back in the day, appearing in 46 episodes. He was also a regular on "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" and had a recurring role in "Two and a Half Men."

But, if they don't join a club, and just try to wear a Hell's Angels patch ... George says they could encounter big problems -- ranging from a "good ass-chewing to a good ass-kicking."

Ben Affleck is cutting all ties to the marital home he owns with Jennifer Lopez ... moving his belongings out while she was off hanging with friends in Italy and France.

We caught up with Pratt Thursday in L.A., and he says he's cool with any DCU role James thinks fits him -- especially since 'Superman' is off the table with actor David Corenswet swinging into action for the iconic role.

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer for "Rust," claims prosecutors in New Mexico buried information that would have helped her prove the gun in the fatal shooting might have fired without Alec Baldwin pulling the trigger.

According to new legal docs, filed Thursday and obtained by TMZ, Gutierrez-Reed claims the prosecutors were sitting on exculpatory evidence during her recent manslaughter trial, which resulted in a conviction, and an 18-month prison sentence for her.

In the docs, Hannah's attorney, Jason Bowles, claims prosecutors buried a report showing the gun had “unexplained” alterations to the trigger that were unlikely the result of the FBI's trigger testing, and did not appear to be original manufacturing marks.

Paul Walter Hauser is calling out Vin Diesel's alleged attitude while he's on the set of his big-budget films ... even though the 2 actors have never shared the screen.

The Emmy winner ripped into the 'Fast & Furious' star after Paul's voice-acting work in "Inside Out 2" was compared to Vin's performance as Groot in the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' franchise. Though both actors notably do a lot with a little in their respective films, PWH told CinemaBlend he has no interest in being compared to VD ... saying he'd like to be seen as "on time and approachable," implying Vin is not.

Bill Cobbs, an actor with over 50 years of experience in Hollywood, is dead ... TMZ has confirmed.

Bill died Tuesday at his home in the Inland Empire in CA ... according to his publicist, Chuck I. Jones.

With an acting career spanning all the way back to the 1970s, Bill has nearly 200 movie and TV show credits to his name.

"The Notebook" author Nicholas Sparks is lamenting Gena Rowlands' battle with Alzheimer's -- feeling for her and her family, and thinking about the sad parallel to the classic book and movie.

Nicholas says ... "Alzheimer's is such a cruel disease. On days like today, I'm reminded of Gena's powerful portrayal of Allie and the depth she brought to the character. Her performance touched millions of hearts and helped bring my story to life in ways I never imagined."

Of course, Gena's character in the big screen adaptation of Nicholas' famous romance novel battles the same disease she's now coping with in real life.
