Donald Sutherland Dead at 88

Donald Sutherland -- a legend in Hollywood -- has died ... this according to his talent agency and his family.

The actor -- who was best known for appearing in classics like "The Dirty Dozen," "M*A*S*H," "Animal House," "Hunger Games" and many, many other films -- passed away Thursday in Miami, Florida after a long illness ... something CAA announced.

No cause of death was shared, and the exact details of his passing weren't disclosed either.

Despite his legal woes, JM's got some serious backup on this project -- it'll be directed by Martin Villeneuve, the younger brother of Oscar-nominated director Denis Villeneuve ... something sources connected to Jon have confirmed to TMZ.

Kim Kardashian is taking her new career in acting seriously -- willing to give up a cosmetic procedure to pursue it ... but isn't willing to do certain things for a full transformation.

The reality star was talking about her new on-camera escapades on the latest episode of "The Kardashians" -- confirming her new comedy, "The Fifth Wheel," was the subject of a bidding war ... which ultimately went to Netflix.

While talking about the whole ordeal with pals -- she says she didn't think studios would take her seriously at first ... but now, she's apparently getting flooded with acting opportunities.

American actor Michael Beck was 30 years old when he played Swan -- the smart and dreamy gang leader living in Coney Island, Brooklyn -- in the action/thriller film "The Warriors" back in 1979.

Joining Beck included a cult of characters including James Remar as a fellow Warrior member vying for the top spot, Ajax, Deborah Van Valkenburgh who's impulsive and desperate to escape with the Warriors, Mercy ... and David Patrick Kelly as the bottle-clanking leader of the Rogues, Luther.

Michael is also known for his roles, Sonny Malone in "Xanadu" and Koda in "Triumphs of a Man Called Horse."

The seaside home famously used as a filming location in the Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon thriller "Fear" is up for sale ... after getting a complete, and stunning, makeover.

Mark and Reese shot a good portion of their 1996 movie at this Canadian location, but the home is a lot different, and more modern, now. One thing that hasn't changed is the incredible scenery around it -- the home sits on the shores of the Salish Sea in British Columbia, just outside Vancouver.

In the drama flick, Mark and Reese's characters are love interests ... and the home is where she lives with her family.

4:30 PM PT --  A rep for "Player Kings" tells TMZ Ian McKellen is doing well after his fall, saying ... "Following a scan, the brilliant NHS team have assured us that he will make a speedy and full recovery and Ian is in good spirits."

"The production has made the decision to cancel the performance on Tuesday 18 June so Ian can rest. Those affected will be contacted by their point of purchase as soon as possible tomorrow."

"Thank you to doctors Rachel and Lee who were on hand in the audience and to all the venue staff for their support.”

Ian McKellen stepped into the spotlight in London and ended up in a hospital ... this after taking a nasty fall during a theater performance this week.

The actor -- who turned 85 last month -- was hospitalized Monday after losing his footing in a "Player Kings" fight scene and falling off stage ... this according to multiple reports out of the UK.

Ian plays John Falstaff in 'PK' -- a new West End production of Shakespeare's Henry IV parts one and two -- and he was circling a battle scene when he tumbled off the front of the stage, screaming in pain as he hit the deck.
