Acclaimed cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema disagrees with Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos' stance that movies can be fully appreciated on a streamer/phone in the same way as on the big screen.

ICYMI, Ted faced online ridicule for saying his son watched the 1962 classic "Lawrence of Arabia" on his phone, and also singled out last year's "Oppenheimer," for which Hoyte won an Oscar, as a film that would be equally enjoyed away from the big screen.

Hoyte makes it clear to TMZ ... while he has no ill will toward Ted, he believes a pocket-sized screen doesn't hold a candle to the traditional theatrical experience.

Marlon Wayans says he's enjoying a simplified sex life these days ... preferring good old-fashioned missionary to more acrobatic lovemaking.

The actor-comedian got real about himself doing the deed during an interview with People, published Saturday ... admitting he's less inclined to go for circus-like sex as he's gotten older.

Marlon says he appreciates the simple stuff like "Missionary — it's great. I don't need to swing from ceilings and twist up nothing, because after we're done, I can just go right to sleep."

"The Garfield Movie" is a kitty with claws it seems ... 'cause the movie's taking out the competition left and right at the box office -- including "Mad Max: Furiosa."

The animated family film will eek out the top spot at the box office this weekend, according to Deadline ... beating out "Mad Max: Furiosa" $13 million to $11.5 million.

Last weekend, almost went the cat's way too ... though ultimately 'MM:F' took the top spot $32.3 million to $31.2 million -- paltry totals for both flicks but especially bad for 'Furiosa' with its huge production and advertising budgets.

Maya Hawke says she's cool with nepo baby casting ... admitting tons of deserving actors don't get to live their dreams like her -- but, it wouldn't help anyone to turn them down.

The actress reflected on her famous family connections in an interview with the Times of London, published Friday ... saying she's not sure if she deserves a leg-up in auditions -- but, she's fine with using it to her advantage.

Jennifer Lopez will not be hitting the road this summer after all -- as the singer is canceling her planned tour outright, even before it starts ... TMZ has learned.

A rep for Live Nation tells us Jen's "THIS IS ME...LIVE" tour -- which was supposed to get underway in June and hit a bunch of North American venues through August -- is getting completely scrapped.

The reason ... we're told, J Lo is "taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends." Jen herself also addressed the cancelation, hopping on her site OntheJLo to say, ... "I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary."

Jen says ... "It’s just a plain orange drink. It came in a little plastic container with a little bit of aluminum foil over it. And it wasn’t called anything except orange drink or grape drink or whatever. There was an orange, a grape, and a fruit punch."
