Now, the Scottsdale Police Department tells us ... they spoke with Richie early this morning and he admitted he took the bat to his own car.
Clearly, Incognito was pissed about something ... but we don't know what set him off.
We reached out to Richie's people for comment -- so far, no word back.
Richie Incognito Parents Divorcing Richie Supports the Whole Family
As if he didn't have enough going on in his life, Richie Incognito's parents have filed for divorce ... and in docs, his dad claims Richie supports his entire family ... TMZ Sports as learned.
Richie's father filed for divorce in Arizona on October 31, 2013 ... just 3 days after Jonathan Martin left the Miami Dolphins due to Incognito's alleged bullying.
In the court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, Richie's dad praises his son for essentially keeping the family afloat for years during extremely hard financial times.
In the docs, Richie's father writes ... "If it was not for the kindness of our son we would have been living in a tent when we lost our home."
In addition to helping out with their living situation, Richie's dad says ... "I have a son at ASU. His tuition is paid by his brother."
The divorce is still in the courts. We reached out to Richie's people for comment -- so far, no word back.
Richie Incognito FERRARI SMASHED In Apparent Baseball Bat Attack
Someone smashed up Richie Incognito's expensive black Ferrari with a baseball bat ... in front of the NFL player's home in Scottsdale, AZ ... and TMZ Sports has photos of the destruction.
Sources tell TMZ Sports ... Richie's neighbors first noticed the car had been attacked on Wednesday afternoon.
You can see a baseball bat lying in front of the car ... with a piece of the bat stuck in the grill. There are also red shirts hanging from the car -- we're told they have Incognito's name written on them.
It appears to be the very same Ferrari that Incognito had delivered to his Miami home back in November -- right in the middle of the fallout from the Jonathan Martin situation.
So far it's unclear who smashed the car ... or why. Also, unclear if Richie was home at the time of the attack.
We called the Scottsdale PD for more info -- so far, no word back.
Richie Incognito 'I'M MISUNDERSTOOD' I Just Wanna Play Football
Richie Incognito has issued another apology ... though it's unclear why ... and TMZ Sports has the video.
The embattled Miami Dolphins lineman was out in Beverly Hills this week -- with another hot blonde on his arm -- when he explained that he's a misunderstood guy who "just wants to play football."
"I'm misunderstood ... but you know what ... I apologize."
We're not really sure if he's apologizing for being misunderstood -- or apologizing for all of the things he allegedly did to Jonathan Martin -- but he seems to be sorry for something.
Know what he's not sorry about? Being a ladies man ... because the next night, he was hanging out with 5 GIRLS outside of a Hollywood nightclub.
Don't hate the player ...
Richie Incognito I AM A ROLE MODEL Don't Drink and Drive, Kids!
Sporting his finest Sigma Chi fraternity t-shirt, Richie Incognito hit the Hollywood bar scene again ... and this time, acknowledged that he's a role model.
TMZ Sports shot footage of the Miami Dolphins player rolling into Warwick on the Sunset Strip -- after arriving in his Uber chauffeuered car.
On his way out, Richie got back into his hired ride and had some words of advice for his fellow partiers -- DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE.
Even Jonathan Martin can't argue with that.
Richie Incognito CHICKS LOVE ME Pulls 5 Girls at Hollywood Nightclub
Richie Incognito was lady-killin' in Hollywood last night ... with 5 GIRLS getting into his car outside of a Sunset Strip nightclub ... and TMZ Sports has the footage.
Incognito was partying at 1OAK last night ... where we asked him if he had any advice for another NFL star in crisis, Ray Rice.
But Richie was more focused on another situation -- the 5 ladies from Wisconsin who were clearly interested in spending some private time with the embattled football star.
The girls all piled into his waiting ride ... but got out after only a few minutes. They hinted they were gonna meet up with Richie later in the evening.
But the best part ... when we asked the girls if Richie could be considered a good role model -- one of the ladies shot back -- "NO!! Because we are 18-years-old!"
Ha.
Richie Incognito HITS THE CLUBS Wells Report Won't Bring Me Down!!
Despite being demonized in the Wells Report, Richie Incognito hit the L.A. club scene last night -- to party like he didn't have a care in the world ... and TMZ Sports has the video.
Incognito hit up Warwick bar and lounge on Sunset Blvd. Saturday night -- sporting a big 'ol smile and a hat that read, "SWAG."
It was clear, incognito didn't want to talk about Jonathan Martin -- or the Wells Report -- or anything else related to the allegations that he bullied people on the Miami Dolphins ... but DID want to talk about Johnny Manziel.
In fact, Richie stopped and explained why he thinks Johnny's a "hell of a football player" and why he'll go in the first round in the NFL Draft.
Richie Incognito PENIS ALARM CLOCK ... Investigator Says
Richie Incognito posed for a photo with his penis thiiiis close to the ear of a sleeping Miami Dolphins teammate ... this according to NFL investigators.
In the report, spearheaded by Ted Wells, investigators say the offensive linemen "routinely communicated and behaved in a profane manner" and sometimes sent each other shocking photos on the group text message chain.
One of the pics, according to investigators, shows Incognito "holding his penis near the ear of a sleeping or unconscious teammate."
At the time the photo was taken, Richie was surrounded by other laughing teammates, including Jonathan Martin.
Another pic features "Incognito's own excrement."
You stay classy, Miami.
Richie Incognito NFL REPORT IS WRONG I'm Not a Bully!!!
Richie Incognito says the report released by NFL investigators is "replete with errors" ... and he still maintains he NEVER bullied Jonathan Martin.
Incognito’s attorney Mark Schamel tells TMZ Sports ... "Mr. Wells' NFL report is replete with errors. The facts do not support a conclusion that Jonathan Martin's mental health, drug use, or on field performance issues were related to the treatment by his teammates."
As we previously reported ... the NFL investigation, led by Ted Wells, stated Martin WAS INDEED harassed and bullied by Incognito and two other members of the Miami Dolphins.
Schamel continues, "It is disappointing that Mr. Wells would have gotten it so wrong, but not surprising. The truth, as reported by the Dolphins players and as shown by the evidence, is that Jonathan Martin was never bullied by Richie Incognito or any member of the Dolphins Offensive line."
"We are analyzing the entire report and will release a thorough analysis as soon as it is ready.”
NFL Investigation Incognito and Teammates BULLIED Martin Bragged About 'Breaking Jmart'
The NFL investigation into Richie Incognito has been released ... and it says the Miami Dolphins player DID bully Jonathan Martin ALONG WITH OTHER PEOPLE in the Dolphins organization.
The report, led by investigator Ted Wells, says ... "After a thorough examination of the facts, we conclude that three starters on the Dolphins offensive line, Richie Incognito, John Jerry and Mike Pouncey, engaged in a pattern of harassment directed at not only Martin, but also another young Dolphins offensive lineman ... and a member of the training staff."
The report continues, "We find that the Assistant Trainer repeatedly was targeted with racial slurs and other racially derogatory language. Player A frequently was subjected to homophobic name-calling and improper physical touching."
"Martin was taunted on a persistent basis with sexually explicit remarks about his sister and his mother and at times ridiculed with racial insults and other offensive comments."
Among the insults geared toward his sister, the report find Incognito, Pouncey and Jerry would fire out things like:
-- "Hear your sister has a wolf-puss. A fat, hairy p**sy."
-- "Hey, Jmart's sister is in town. Get the plastic sheets ready, she's a squirter."
-- "We are going to run a train on your sister."
-- "I'm going to bang the sh*t out of her and spit on her and treat her like sh*t."
We know Incognito and Pouncey are tight ... in fact, the two went berserk together in a bar in Florida, with a shirtless Incognito screaming the N-word and stomping around the place.
Investigators say ... Jonathan Martin had a fragile mindset going into the team -- partly because he had been bullied in middle school and high school. Martin's depression led to suicidal thoughts in 2013 ... after the bullying by his Dolphins teammates.
In the report, investigators say ...one of the offensive lineman was "often was called a 'f*g' or 'f*ggot' and was 'accused of sucking d*ck and pissing while sitting down, asked where's your boyfriend?"
Investigators also say one of the linemen was once physically restrained by Pouncey -- who told Jerry to "come get some pussy."
"Jerry responded by touching [the player's] buttocks in a way that simulated anal penetration."
The report says Dolphins offensive line coach Jim Turner was aware of the running joke that [one of the linemen] was gay ... and on at least one occasion participated in the taunting.
The report also mentions that Incognito -- and other members of the offensive line -- would use a notebook to track fines issued by their "kangaroo court."
According to the report, Incognito recorded a $200 fine against himself for "Breaking Jmart" ... which meant he caused Martin to have an emotional reaction to the bullying.
Investigators say Incognito then tried to destroy the book to cover his tracks.
The report includes a "Pros and Cons list" about continuing to play football ... which he wrote in the midst of the bullying.
On the "pros" list -- it's fun, he can make a lot of money, he'll have a legacy.
The "cons" list paints a sad picture:
-- "I hate going in everyday."
-- "Maybe I'll start to like myself."
-- "I am unable to socialize with my teammates in their crude manner."
As for Incognito's claims that Martin made up the allegations -- investigators are clear ... "We reject the assertion by Incognito that Martin has fabricated claims of harassment after the fact."
Ultimately, investigators concluded ... "We encourage the creation of new workplace conduct rules and guidelines that will help ensure that players respect each other as professionals and people."
Richie Incognito Police Chief Has My Back In War With Jonathan Martin
A New Jersey police chief is stepping up for Richie Incognito ... telling investigators he was there during an allegedly explosive night between R.I. and Jonathan Martin ... but the cop says Richie did NOTHING wrong.
TMZ Sports has a letter written by the police chief and sent to investigators connected to the Ted Wells investigation which was launched in the wake of the bullying allegations.
The letter describes an April 26 dinner involving Martin, Incognito, Will Yeatman and Anthony Fasano ... where Martin allegedly stormed out after Richie dropped the N-bomb.
In his letter to investigators, the police chief says he was also there that night ... and based on his years of experience as an officer and a detective, says he witnessed NO inappropriate behavior on Richie's part.
In fact, the chief says the Dolphins players all participated in a "fun" Vine video that night, in which they were all smiling and laughing.
"At no time did I ever hear Ritchie speak condescendingly to or attempt to intimidate Jonathan or anyone else at this restaurant."
The chief says Martin never stormed out -- or mentioned that he was uncomfortable in any capacity.
The chief also says he has spent a lot of time with both Martin and Incognito over the years and says, "They have always appeared to me to have a close and amiable relationship -- very much like best friends."
Calls to Martin's camp have not been returned. No comment from Incognito's people.
Richie Incognito Jonathan Martin Told Me He Was Suicidal
Richie Incognito says Jonathan Martin contemplated suicide back in May because he wasn't playing well ... and Richie just told the world on Twitter.
After weeks of silence, Incognito just WENT OFF on Martin ... saying "the truth will bury you and your entire camp."
But then Richie dropped the bombshell ... "FACT: Jonathan Martin told me he thought about taking his own life in MAY 2013 b/c he wasn't playing well. Told me he felt worthless."
The timing of Incognito's rant is interesting ... considering the man the Miami Dolphins appointed to investigate the alleged "bullying" situation is expected to release his report in the very near future.
We've reached out to Martin's camp for comment -- so far, no word back.

Ricky Williams NFL Doesn't Wanna Help Potheads Weed Testing Is Just for PR
Former Miami Dolphins running back Ricky Williams tells TMZ Sports ... the NFL's policy on marijuana is a JOKE ... saying the league has no real interest in rehabilitating weed users, it's all for P.R.
Williams -- who famously left the NFL in 2004 after testing positive for pot on several occasions -- says, "I don't think the NFL really cares about whether or not players use marijuana."
Ricky says he believes the point of the NFL's policy on weed is NOT to detour players from using -- but only to maintain the league's image as a family friendly business.
We've spoken with other NFL stars who echo Ricky's sentiments -- telling us there are a BUNCH of active players who smoke (some with prescriptions) and they feel the league should butt out when it comes to pot.
For now, the NFL says marijuana will remain on the league's banned substance list -- but with pot already legalized for recreational use in 2 states, and others likely to follow suit, it seems like legalized weed use in pro football is just a matter of time.
Jonathan Martin I'm a Grown Ass Man But I Felt 'Trapped' on the Dolphins
Jonathan Martin says he HABITUALLY targeted with "vulgar" verbal attacks during his stint with the Miami Dolphins ... and finally left the team because he just couldn't take the constant harassment.
NBC has just released a teaser of Tony Dungy's big interview with the NFL player -- in which Martin never mentions Richie Incognito by name, but certainly implies he was bullied without mercy.
"I’m a grown man. I’ve been in locker rooms. There’s vulgar language used in locker rooms, and it doesn’t bother me – it’s the persistence of it."
He continued, "I wish I had more tools to solve my situation. But I felt trapped – like I didn’t have a way to make it right. It came down to a point where I felt it was best just to remove myself from the situation."
For his part, Incognito has adamantly denied bullying Martin.
As we previously reported, the two exchanged graphic taunts in text messages back and forth to each other during their time on the team together.
Incognito has previously explained that he considered Martin one of his best friends and that the texts were in good fun.
Jonathan Martin I WANT TO PLAY FOOTBALL AGAIN
Jonathan Martin finally broke his silence and addressed the media for the FIRST TIME since leaving the Miami Dolphins ... and says he plans to RETURN to the NFL as soon as possible.
Martin had a meeting in NYC with the special counsel hired by the NFL ... to talk about his treatment by Dolphins teammates, including Richie Incognito -- who's been suspended for allegedly bullying Martin.
The lawyer -- who also conducted the special investigation of the Syracuse University basketball team sexual harassment case -- will try to find out if some of the Dolphins' locker room antics crossed the legal line.
After the meeting, Martin read a statement ... saying he plans to resume his NFL career, though he didn't specify if he meant the Dolphins or another pro squad.
But there's a catch -- for Martin to return, a team has to want to sign him ... and after the way the Miami situation has played out, the ball might not be in his court.

Richie Incognito I'm Not a Racist ... Martin Isn't Even Mad at Me
Richie Incognito is playing the "everybody does it" card to explain why he hammered Jonathan Martin with threatening, racist, and violent language -- and further, he says it's just how he and Martin talk to each other.
In his first extensive interview, Incognito -- who's been suspended for his actions -- basically said players in NFL locker rooms, black and white, use the n-word freely.
Incognito admitted being "embarrassed" by the voicemail he left for his teammate ... where he called him a "half n**ga" -- and said he feels it's inappropriate for him to ever use that word. Strange ... since he's also saying he does it all the time.
As for bullying? Incognito told FOX NFL Insider Jay Glazer ... he didn't think this was a case of bullying ... and was more "an issue of mine and Jon's relationship, where I've taken stuff too far, and I didn't know it was hurting him."
Incognito also shared text messages he says his "best friend" Jonathan sent him after the controversy exploded. He claims Martin said ... "I don't blame you guys. I blame some stuff in the locker room. I blame the culture. I blame what was going on around me."
So, we gotta ask ...
