Howard Stern Bashes Charles' Coronation Calls King a 'P****'

The Howard Stern Show / SiriusXM

Howard Stern had some terse words for King Charles and his coronation -- going so far as to say he thought the guy was a "p****" and that the whole thing was a waste of money.

The radio talk show host went in on the Brits for putting on such an extravagant show for their new monarch -- who was officially crowned over the weekend in what amounted to a 3-day celebration, capping off with a massive concert with a lot pomp and circumstance.

You figure that's exactly what a coronation calls for, which HS says he understands -- but at his core ... he finds the idea revolting, seeing how they're pouring money down the drain.

Howard also takes some personal potshots at Charles himself ... saying the guy is no war hero, even though he kinda gets treated like one anyway by his royal subjects. His cohost, Robin, was getting in on the dogpile too ... and they called out Queen Camilla as well.

The 'American Idol' moment -- in which both Charles and Camilla made cameos on the show -- was in their crosshairs too ... with Howard saying they looked like complete stiffs on there.

Howard's gripes seem to be steeped in what a lot of people -- particularly Americans -- say about the monarchy ... namely, that it's outdated and completely unnecessary in modern times, both in terms of reverence paid and the money spent to showcase the Royal Family.

He says he gets its tie to tourism and that it drives interest in Britain at large, but the dude's completely unimpressed by the institution  ... and definitely isn't a fan of HRH, Chuck.

Fortunately for him, he doesn't live there ... and it really isn't his issue. Problem solved!

Prince Harry Went To Buckingham Palace After Coronation ... Zero Contact With Senior Royals

Prince Harry was in a real hurry to get out of town after the Coronation ... because he didn't hobnob once with senior members of the Royal Family.

According to multiple reports, Harry went to Buckingham Palace after King Charles and Queen Camilla were anointed Saturday at Westminster Abbey.

But, the Duke of Sussex stayed at The Palace for less than 30 minutes to take a breather from the public frenzy his presence had whipped up, The Daily Mail reports.

While he was there, Harry never interacted with high-level Royals, because he was anxious to get back to the States to be with his wife and child, sources told The Telegraph. At the same time, The Royals were busy with the Coronation procession, providing them cover NOT to meet with Harry.

Harry was also MIA from the Royal Family's official Coronation portrait and Sunday's Coronation Concert headlined by Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.

What's more, Harry was treated like a second-class Royal at the Coronation. He was seated in the third row during the two-hour ceremony, while his brother, Prince William, and wife, Kate Middleton, were front and center.

Harry seemed rather uncomfortable throughout the event as photographs emerged of him shooting awkward smiles.

Upon leaving The Palace, Harry jumped into a car and hightailed it to Heathrow Airport, where he caught a flight back to the US to celebrate his son Prince Archie's fourth birthday.

Harry's wife, Meghan Markle, sat out the Coronation at the couple's home amid their continuing drama with the Royal Family.

King Charles & Queen Camilla Surprise, We're on 'American Idol'!!!

King Charles had a lot on his plate this weekend leading up to and following his Coronation, so it made it all the more shocking he popped up on "American Idol."

The King and Queen Camilla joined hosts Lionel Richie and Katy Perry Sunday night as they live streamed from Windsor Castle... right after Lionel and Katy's Royal performance..

Katy and Lionel, both judges on the show, kicked things off by recapping the weekend and the concert ... Lionel coyly said, "What a party, it was unbelievable. Now we are trying to figure out what we can do to bring something different to the show. So, I have a surprise."

Charles and Camilla both popped up on stage ... with huge smiles on their faces.

Charles said, "I just wanted to check how long you will be using this room for. I just wanted to check." Lionel's response ... "We have to give up the room up right away."

The appearance comes after Charles and Camilla watched LR and KP perform their hit songs from the royal box during the star-studded Coronation concert, which wrapped up the big weekend.

Of course, the events were centered around Saturday's Coronation ... watched by millions around the world.

Def a weekend for the books.

Meghan Markle Take a Hike, Chuck ... Or Better Yet, I'll Just Do It Myself!!!

Meghan Markle was a no-show at her father-in-law's Coronation this weekend -- but she did attend Mother Nature's daily offering of sunshine and blue skies ... some 5,000+ miles away.

The Duchess of Sussex surfaced in public Sunday -- the first time we've seen her out amid all the chatter about her absence during King Charles' crowning ceremony and all the festivities preceding and following it. Here, she's on a hike with friends ... sans Prince Harry.

Indeed, her husband was nowhere to be seen in this rare outing near their Montecito home -- one in which Meg appeared to be getting some exercise with just a couple of longtime close pals ... Markus Anderson and Heather Dorak, both of whom she's known for years.

As you can see, MM looks pretty chipper. She's got on quite the outdoorsy getup -- wearing all-black athletic wear, sunglasses, a scarf and wide-brimmed hat. Very fashionable!

Of course, her vibe here is ... well, just living life. No sign of concern or worry about having missed the big shindig -- just her and her crew doing their thing outside and laughing it up. It's interesting that Harry isn't with her here -- but, he did have a long flight home yesterday.

You'll recall ... he hightailed it out of London pretty much as soon as his pops had his crown on, beelining it to the airport to get back to Cali in hopes of catching some of Archie's bday.

It's likely dad was pooped and might've been catching some shut-eye after a marathon day.

All good ... wifey's holding it down on the outside!

UPDATE

3:16 PM PT -- That's a wrap for Charles' coronation weekend -- which capped off with a big concert that went out with a bang ... all thanks to the big-name acts, who sang their asses off.

UPDATE

Lionel and Katy crushed it, as expected, but the other musicians who were on the bill stepped as well ... including Nicole, Steve and Take That. Take a look for yourself -- you can see everyone in the crowd was grooving to just about each set, including the Royal Family.

UPDATE

Speaking of which, Prince William gave a speech at one point ... and it was a poignant tribute to his dad. No Harry, of course, but all in all -- pretty darn fabulous. Well done!

The Coronation of King Charles might be done, but the party's just getting started ... because a massive concert with Lionel Richie and Katy Perry is about to kick off!

The big Coronation Concert, streamed by BBC, is almost underway ... other than the 2 "American Idol" hosts puttin' on a show, it's going to be a packed lineup -- with names like Andrea Bocelli, Steve Winwood, Nicole Scherzinger, and British group Take That jumping on stage.

The event supposedly is featuring prerecorded sketches with big names, too ... like Tom Cruise, Bear Grylls, and Joan Collins.

Winnie the Pooh's even making an appearance -- no doubt matching the same energy from Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Party when she had tea with Paddington.

As we reported, the big bash comes after Saturday's Coronation, which was observed by millions of folks ... whether they were right outside those Westminster doors or halfway across the globe.

Some members of the royal fam had some parts to play throughout the ceremony ... like Prince William, who pledged allegiance once Charles was crowned. 9-year-old Prince George had some big responsibilities, too -- taking on the role of one of the Kings' 4 Pages.

Superfans even camped out ahead of yesterday's festivities, rocking some pretty awesome garbs in support of the big day. While there are certainly a lot of Brits out in support of their King this weekend -- one person who is noticeably absent is Prince Harry ... who made a very brief appearance during Saturday's coronation ceremony, only to bounce soon after.

Like we reported ... the dude was relegated to the cheap seats, and didn't have any major role in it whatsoever. He didn't even get to wear his military uniform, despite having served for Britain. Instead, he was in and out ... showing face, and skedaddling almost as quickly as he came. Reports say Harry wanted to make it back to L.A. to celebrate his kid's birthday.

No matter ... the show must go on regardless, and the performers are about to hit the stage.

Buckle up, we're sure to be guaranteed a solid few hours of music!

Prince Harry Gets Out Of Dodge, Heads Back To U.S. After Coronation In England

King Charles and Queen Camilla celebrated their coronation with the Royal Family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, but one person was an obvious no-show at the festivities: Prince Harry.

In fact, Harry was seen driving away from Windsor Castle after the coronation so he could reportedly catch a flight back to the U.S. to ring in his son Prince Archie's fourth birthday with wife, Meghan Markle.

Even if Harry had stayed behind, he reportedly would not have been allowed on the balcony since he and Meghan stepped down as senior members of the Royal Family in 2020, putting aside their monarchal duties.

Instead, the newly crowned king and queen of the United Kingdom were surrounded by other Royal Family members, including Prince William, his princess wife, Kate, and their kiddos, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

NO HARRY, NO PROBLEM

Harry's early exit might also be tied to his experience at the coronation. It didn't exactly go great for Harry, who was relegated to the third row during the ceremony while William got front-row seats with Kate.

Harry also arrived solo to the event, leaving Meghan at home in Montecito with Archie and their daughter Princess Lilibet. While at the coronation, Harry seemed to be in an awkward space as he interacted with family, putting on fake smiles and forcing himself to laugh.

Stay tuned. We're pretty sure this drama will continue.

King Charles' Coronation Officially Crowned In Westminster Abbey ... God Save The King!

History has just been made, as King Charles has been given his crown at his monumental coronation -- taking the reins in a centuries-long tradition following last year's death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II.

Charles made things official Saturday morning at Westminster Abbey in London ... where people came in droves to watch the ceremony unfold, including Prince Harry, Prince William, Kate Middleton and other members of the royal family -- not to mention the millions/billions of others watching across the globe.

Charles gave the traditional coronation oath before signing a pledge to serve his people. He was later given St. Edward's Crown -- something that's been a part of the lineage for over 400 years!

William pledged allegiance following his father's crowning, while little Prince George served as one of the service's 4 Pages. The procession is now underway, taking Charles and Queen Camilla back to Buckingham Palace through the streets of London.

The coronation was conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby -- leading these coronations has been a task for Archbishops since the first one went down way back in 1066 for William I the Conqueror.

GOD SAVE THE KING

Don't forget, today's festivities took a lot of preparation -- as we reported, Buckingham Palace was recently transformed in order for those involved to go over the layout on a more private scale.

This week, we've seen the likes of Prince William, Kate, and their kids heading to Westminster for some rehearsals ahead of the real deal.

And just days before the coronation, swarms of fans camped outside to show their support -- donning some pretty spectacular outfits, too.

You'll recall, Charles was thrust into power following the death of QE 2 in September ... news that rocked the entire world for weeks on end. Her funeral procession had all eyes on it, too.

SWIFT TAKEDOWN

Remember, her coffin was even rushed by someone as people waited up to 28 hours to pay respects -- but he was rapidly tackled by cops and arrested.

There was a ton of drama following her death, specifically between the royal fam and Prince Harry & Meghan Markle ... after the couple's Netflix series blasted what they saw as toxicity within the palace walls. Harry was even reportedly written out of Saturday's big event as a result of his book, "Spare."

PH and MM did eventually get an invite to the coronation, but only Harry attended, with Meghan and the kiddos staying across the pond.

The coronation's being followed by a massive concert with huge stars in attendance ... and we'll have you covered on that front, too.

Prince Harry Gets Not-So-Royal Treatment ... At King Charles' Coronation

Prince Harry wasn't treated like much of a prince at Saturday's coronation ... 'cause he was relegated to the cheap seats while his brother, William, sat center stage.

Harry got the less-than-royal treatment as he and the world watched the coronation of his father King Charles III at Westminster Abbey church in London.

The Duke of Sussex flew solo to the much-anticipated event, leaving his wife, Meghan Markle, at their home in Montecito amid continuing tensions between them and the Royal Family.

Harry was grinning awkwardly while seated among many onlookers three rows back from where his father was getting crowned King. By contrast, his brother, Prince William, was sitting front and center and enjoying the festivities with his wife, Kate, at his side.

UNREMARKABLE ARRIVAL

Clad in a black suit with medals attached, Harry was also seen mingling with relatives after arriving at the church with Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice and their husbands. His interactions with family reportedly seemed off with his fake smiles and laughter.

The Daily Mail said Harry was invited to lunch at Buckingham Palace after the coronation, but it was unclear if he accepted the invitation since he's supposed to fly back to California to reunite with Megan and their son, Archie, to celebrate his fourth birthday.

Coronation Rehearsals Subjects Camp Out in Wacky Outfits Ahead of Big Day! 👑

It's just one more sleep until King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla's coronation ... and royal superfans waiting patiently for the big day are getting campy as the royal fam goes through its final rehearsal.

Charles, Camilla, and Prince William were back at Westminster Abbey Friday -- while the folks looking forward to Saturday's ceremony have already started to camp out ... and it's clear a little rain won't stop them!

There are some unique costumes in the mix -- from one dude puttin' the British flag everywhere to another rockin' a shiny jacket with Charles and Camilla's mugs on it!

Another royal subject shut out the rain with a Union Jack-themed poncho!

And it ain't just the UK showing up in support -- First Lady Jill Biden also arrived in London Friday ahead of tomorrow's festivities.

As we reported, William, Kate Middleton, and their kiddos have been driving to and from Westminster all week for rehearsals. Harry hasn't been seen yet, but he's likely there by now, with less than 24 hours before his father's big day.

And, here's a quick reminder the ascending monarch wasn't always 74. Get it, King!!!

Prince William, Kate & Kids Walkin' Into Westminster ... Coronation Rehearsal Time!

The Royal Family is gearing up for King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla's coronation ... so, the next in line to the throne is front and center with his brood practicing their part in the ceremony.

Prince William and Kate Middleton were at Westminster Abbey Wednesday morning -- with Prince George, Prince Louis, and Princess Charlotte in tow for one of many run-throughs before Saturday's ceremony.

William and 9-year-old George have some big parts to play in this weekend's coronation ... with William pledging allegiance once Charles is crowned by the Archbishop of Canterbury, and George taking on the role of one of the Kings' 4 Pages.

Can't have the kid messing up, so these rehearsals are crucial!

The man and woman of the hour, King Charles and his Queen, were also on hand Wednesday -- apart from them, Charles' sister Anne was in the building, too ... all a part of the not-so top-secret rehearsal.

As we reported, Prince Harry -- despite all the bad blood -- will be attending his father's big day. He was not at the family run-through, and it's unclear how involved he will be in the coronation itself.

Meghan Markle got an invite too, but won't be heading overseas with her hubby.

FYI -- a Buckingham Palace ballroom had reportedly been recently turned into a mock version of the Westminster Abbey location where people have been able to work through the layout and rehearse on a more private scale.

Prince Harry Will Attend Charles' Coronation Without Meghan

Prince Harry is going to his dad's coronation next month ... but Meghan Markle won't be with him.

Buckingham Palace broke the news Wednesday, saying they were "pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on May 6th." They add, "The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet."

Harry and Meg's rep issued the same statement, FWIW ... so they're all on the same page.

PH's attendance has been the subject of much speculation/intrigue for the past several weeks -- this after King Charles officially sent the invite ... putting the ball in his court.

It's interesting that Meghan is not going. On its face, you could argue it makes sense -- fact is ... their son, Archie, is turning 4 that same weekend (May 6). So, she technically has a good excuse to skip it ... the Coronation and the birthday just happen to fall on the same day.

CONCERNS ABOUT ARCHIE'S SKIN
CBS

Of course, skeptics might say she doesn't wanna go because of her rocky history with the Royals -- remember, she and Harry have accused them of just about everything under the sun ... from straight-up racism to passive-aggressive mistreatment, it's all been alleged.

One other interesting tidbit ... some reports suggest Harry will not be on hand for the full 3 days of celebration during Charles' big blowout, which will carry on throughout the entire weekend. People Mag, for instance, claims he'll just attend the crowning ceremony itself.

Seeing how Charles is going to be super busy ... you gotta imagine there'll be little to no time for him and his youngest son to properly chat and maybe even reconcile. But, with that said, Harry going at all is certainly a step in the right direction to mend this broken fence.

The saga continues.

Report: Biden to King Charles Sorry, Chaz ... I Ain't Making It to the Coronation

President Biden is apparently skipping King Charles' coronation -- but there still might be a U.S. presence in the stands ... and it could be one of his two favorite ladies.

The Telegraph broke the news Friday ... reporting that they've been told by their Buckingham Palace sources that the King and co. were recently made aware of JB's intentions -- namely, not being in attendance as one of the many heads of state that are scheduled to show up.

That doesn't mean there won't be someone on his behalf, though. Per the UK outlet, he's mulling sending either his wife, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, or his Veep ... Kamala Harris.

In addition to Jill/Kamala, there'll also be a formal U.S. delegation -- which will presumably include ambassadors, diplomats and other personnel ... the White House has said they'll announce those names in the coming weeks.

As for why Joe's bailing ... the word is, he has prior commitments -- although it's unclear what exactly. Here's the thing, the Telegraph reports it's no harm, no foul as far as Charles is concerned. In other words, he isn't taking it personally ... as no U.S. Prez has ever attended a British coronation, so it's not like POTUS is bucking tradition by failing to appear.

There's another thing to consider here, that some are reading into as it relates to Biden and his feelings about Charles and the monarchy at large -- perhaps he doesn't like 'em much.

There are reports that Biden's mother, who was of Irish descent, absolutely hated England (see history for why) ... which, if true, surely might've been communicated to Joe at some point. There's also the Harry and Meghan factor ... which could also be playing into this.

He's been pretty neutral on commenting about them -- but his ex-Press Sec., Jen Psaki, did publicly praise them for speaking up in the Oprah interview, saying JB felt that took courage.

In any case, Joe's gonna be a no-show.

Andrew Lloyd Webber From 'Cats' to Coronation Very Chill Re: Charles Music Gig!!!

You'd think Andrew Lloyd Webber would be feeling the pressure of having to craft King Charles' coronation music -- but the dude is pretty relaxed ... hilariously so, in fact.

The Broadway legend -- responsible for the numbers heard in "Cats," "The Phantom of the Opera" and others -- dished to WaPo about the Royal assignment he agreed to about a month ago ... namely, composing THE musical piece that'll be playing while KC gets crowned in May.

It's quite the task, and yet ... ALW sounds super chill about it. His interview here makes it seem like the gig is just another day in the office. He says, "I have written quite a lot of choral music. [M]y father was a very distinguished church organist and choirmaster and the choral tradition is not something that is new to me in a way, because it’s been there all my life." In other words, he's been there ... done that. Now, he's just doing it for the King.

As WaPo notes, Lloyd Webber's actually somewhat familiar with Charles -- having met and visited with him on a handful of occasions in the past. He tells this funny anecdote, kinda poking fun at the King's vanilla demeanor/interests ... and what HRH is passionate about.

hulu-kal
INVESTIGATING FLIGHT 23

ALW says, "The great thing about Charles is that he has a great love of really quite a lot of causes that are a little bit unfashionable. He cares very deeply about all sorts of quite interesting things."

The guy adds this ... "I mean, like, three or four years before lockdown, I got a call from him saying could I come around to meet him at Lancaster House quite urgently, because he’d had an idea. What it was that he was worried about was the fact that there wasn’t enough access for young people to go and learn how to play the church organ."

As for the actual music itself that he's putting together ... the deets are out. It's a three-minute tune set to the melody of Psalm 98, which will include the lyrics/refrain that reads, "O sing to the Lord a new song." Lloyd Webber's expected to put his own spin on it, though.

ALW's heading to London soon to test the audio at Westminster Abbey, where the ceremony will go down. Charles may be struggling with pop acts, but he's got the classics locked down.

Can't wait to see what Andy's got cooking for the King!

King Charles Invites H&M to Coronation ... Undecided on Attending

King Charles has officially extended an olive branch to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle -- asking them to be among his guests at the Coronation, but the couple's saying ... eh, maybe.

His Royal Highness fired off the invite Saturday ... this according to the Times of London, which broke the story. It appears Buckingham Palace got word to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shortly after Harry's televised sitdown with Dr. Gabor Mate earlier in the day.

No word on what exactly the invitation said, but the message was clear ... roll through!

Here's the kicker, though -- Harry and Meghan are holding their cards close to the vest on their plans. Their rep says ... "I can confirm The Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty's office regarding the coronation. An immediate decision on whether The Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time."

In other words, it sounds like they have to think about it ... as there's been a lot of updates since their Netflix doc and Harry's book. Of course, they recently got word that they were getting evicted from Frogmore Cottage (although there are reports Charles is offering a full-blown flat on the palace grounds as a replacement). Plus, Harry just spilled more of his guts.

Harry took some roundabout shots at his family in the Mate interview ... saying he didn't receive enough love and affection as a child, and that he now suffers from PTSD. He also said that Meghan had "saved" him from his Royal life ... and suggested his family was out of touch and insensitive. Plus, Harry clearly said Royal life was inherently inauthentic.

PH didn't address the Coronation or where things stand between him and his brother/father ... but it was clear he feels the relationship is strained. Despite this, he also made sure to note that he felt what he was doing (sharing his story/problems) was worth it big picture.

In spite of all that, Charles sent the invite anyway -- right in the mix of more headlines and drama. It's fascinating timing ... and kind of a power move, no? Ball's in their court!
