New Jersey H.S. Football Player Sophomore Dies ... After Traumatic Head Injury During Game

Xavier McClain -- a sophomore high school football player in New Jersey who suffered a traumatic head injury during a recent football game -- has died, the school tells TMZ Sports.

"The Linden Public School district is deeply saddened by the tragic death of a Linden High School sophomore student," the school said in a statement. "The district extends its heartfelt condolences and will continue to offer prayers and support to the family during this difficult time."

The district says they've made counseling available to any students and staff who want to talk to a professional.

McClain was "critically injured" during a varsity football game on September 9 ... when Linden was taking on Woodbridge H.S. in Woodbridge.

According to witnesses who were at the game, Xavier, in the second half, was returning a kickoff when the injury occurred. An ambulance was quickly brought onto the field, and play was temporarily halted.

FYI, kickoffs are one of the most dangerous plays in football. In fact, there's been a push by some to eliminate the play from the sport.

Derek Armstead, the mayor of Linden, asked the community for prayers for Xavier's parents, Lisa and Norman, as they grieve the tragic loss of their son.

"At this time, the best way to help them and Xavier is for every one of you to pray," Armstead wrote in a social media post. "If you can, stop what you are doing for a minute right now and join me in a moment of silence and prayers."

Armstead -- who's known Xavier and his parents for years -- said the news "hurts," adding, "I trust that God knows better."

"HE needed an angel and decided to call Xavier home to be with HIM," Armstead wrote. "I asked that you continue to keep the family in your prayers."

Easton Oliverson Family Suing Little League Baseball ... Over LLWS Bunk Bed Fall

Easton Oliverson's family is now suing Little League Baseball after the 12-year-old was injured in a fall from his bunk bed at the Little League World Series last month ... claiming the org.'s negligence contributed to his accident and subsequent injuries.

The suit, obtained by TMZ Sports, was filed in Philadelphia County last week ... one month after it was reported that Oliverson suffered a fractured skull and brain bleed following a fall from his bed at the Little League World Series' dormitory complex in Williamsport.

In the docs, Oliverson's family alleges the beds at the LLWS were not safe because they did not have proper railing attached to them.

The family claims in the docs "Little League was negligent for allowing the bed to exist in a dangerous condition" -- adding it all "contributed" to Oliverson's fall.

The lawsuit is seeking damages in excess of $50,000.

The attorney representing the Oliversons in the case, Ken Fulginiti, says that while Easton has returned home following several surgeries -- "he's plagued with seizures" and is battling health issues daily.

Fulginiti added that Oliverson -- a pitcher and outfielder for the Snow Canyon team -- was a "very healthy" and "very physically active" baseball player with "no problems at all" prior to his fall.

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

Fulginiti said he and the Oliversons are hopeful the lawsuit eventually prevents any similar situations from ever happening again.

We reached out to the LLWS for comment, but the org. said in a statement, "It is Little League International’s policy not to comment on pending litigation."

Jackson was hurt while making a tackle late in the second quarter of Buffalo's blowout win over the Tennessee Titans.

FDA Warning NyQuil-Marinated Chicken is Disgusting ... And Dangerous

The FDA is warning TikTokers who are jumping on the latest craze to beware ... because NyQuil-marinated chicken is a dangerous thing.

It sounds as disgusting as it is dangerous ... "sleepy chicken" is what it's called ... some people say it helps with cold symptoms ... duh.

Thing is ... it's also unsafe. Meds that are boiled can be dangerous because they're much more concentrated and powerful and change properties ... so says the FDA.

What's more ... just smelling it can be dangerous. Folks at the FDA say inhaling vapors during the cooking process causes the drug to enter the cook's system, causing potential lung damage.

People who are doing this are often using way more than the recommended dosages, and that's a big problem.

Adam Sandler Went Through Hip Surgery ... Reason Behind The Cane

Adam Sandler's been walking around with a cane, and while it might look kinda swaggy, it's not for show -- it's part of his recovery from going under the knife a few weeks back.

We got photos of Adam out this past weekend in L.A.'s Pacific Palisades neighborhood with the cane in his right hand for support ... while he shopped with his wife, Jackie.

Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ ... Adam's been using the cane because of a recent hip surgery he had around Labor Day.

We're told this wasn't due to a sudden injury, or any medical emergency -- Adam specifically scheduled the surgery to land between projects. Fans can rest easy ... we're told the Sandman will be all healed and ready to go for his upcoming comedy tour, which begins in late October.

Adam had been seen walking around town with a cane for a few weeks, but he hadn't said anything about why he needed it.

Our sources say the surgery was a success, and Adam -- who famously loves his pickup basketball games -- is already looking forward to getting on a court in the near future.

49ers' Trey Lance All Smiles After Ankle Surgery ... 'I Will Be Back'

Despite a broken ankle and season-ending surgery ... Trey Lance is in good spirits, sharing a photo from his hospital bed on Monday with a big smile on his face.

The 22-year-old 49ers star quarterback suffered the gruesome injury during the win over the Seahawks on Sunday -- breaking his right ankle in the first quarter.

SF head coach Kyle Shanahan announced after the game that Lance would need season-ending surgery ... and, on Monday, Lance said it all went well.

"Truly appreciate all of the messages and prayers," Lance wrote on his Twitter page. "Surgery was a success and I am ready to attack this rehab process."

"We will never understand why, but I trust that it’s all a part of His plan," the QB added. "I will be back better than ever. This chapter is going to make the story even greater!"

Jimmy Garoppolo took over for Lance and ended up with 154 passing yards, one passing touchdown, and the win. He said after the game he felt badly for his teammate.

While Lance is out for the rest of 2022, early expectations are that he'll be ready in time for the 2023 season.

MLB Star Javier Baez Offering Free Food To Hurricane Fiona Victims ... 'I'm With You'

Detroit Tigers star Javier Baez is worried for everyone in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Fiona struck the island this weekend -- and he's now offering free food to those who are suffering from the devastating storm.

The hurricane made landfall in PR on Sunday -- and according to governor Pedro Pierluisi, it's caused "unprecedented" flooding in some areas. In fact, one flood actually forced a metal bridge to collapse in the Guaonica River.

Hurricane Fiona has also left millions without power ... which means cooking food has been difficult -- but Baez says he has people in his home country covered there -- at no cost.

"All those families who are in need of a hot meal can stop by @taquizapr in Toa Baja," the two-time All-Star said on Monday, "and we will serve it to you for FREE!!"

"If your community is affected and you're in need of hot meal, you can call 787-665-2323 (Joshua) or stop by @taquizapr and we will make all the arrangements. Blessings to all of you!"

Baez added, "I know we're going through something very difficult. I'm with you."

Puerto Rican boxing star Amanda Serrano also prayed for her home country -- saying on her social media page, "It’s storm season & we are experiencing one now."

"May we all come out safe 🙏♥"

Pierluisi said they're doing everything they can to bring back power to the island as "inspection and restoration work is being done."

President Joe Biden also declared a state of emergency on Sunday.

Pro Surfer Kalani David Dead At 24 ... After Having Seizure While Surfing In Costa Rica

Professional surfer Kalani David has tragically passed away ... after the former Hawaiian champ suffered a massive seizure while practicing in the waters of Costa Rica.

He was only 24.

The Costa Rica Judicial Investigation Department shed some light on the accident, telling AP News "he was surfing when he apparently suffered some kind of epileptic seizure and drowned."

They added ... "The death is still under investigation."

Legendary surfer Kelly Slater paid tribute to David on his Instagram ... saying he was "one of the most talented surfer/skaters on Earth."

“Constantly pushing the limits every time he was on his feet. Condolences to the huge community of friends Kalani had coast to coast and across the globe.”

David was a gifted surfer and skateboarder ... winning the Junior World Surfing title in 2012. He also competed in several skating events.

Kalani had a heart condition called Wolff-Parkinson-White that can make the heart beat faster and cause paralysis and seizures.

In fact, David had a seizure while skating in Oceanside California in August 2016.

David's mother, Andrea, launched a GoFundMe on Sunday ... saying she needs help getting his body back to the states so she can bury him next to his grandfather in Florida.

"Our son is laying in wait at a morgue in San Jose, Costa Rica," Andrea said on the site.

"He deserved more than I could ever give him and I don’t even feel right for asking but I will for Kalani. I don’t want my son in a jar or spread on the water, as I would see fit for myself."

Andrea added, "I want to give him a place you can go see him and know he is listening when you share your feelings with him."

"I love you Kalani! This world will never be the same without you."

WWE Legend Trish Stratus Undergoes Emergency Surgery ... After Appendix Was 'About To Burst'

EMERGENCY SURGERY

Trish Stratus was rushed into surgery last week after experiencing severe pain in her stomach ... but, thankfully, she is now on the road to recovery.

The WWE legend shared the scary experience with her followers on her social media page on Sunday, saying after a 10-hour travel day, she felt pain so intense that it prompted her to go to the ER.

While there, she said she found out her appendix was "about to burst."

"I’m really glad I went to check it out," Trish said on her Instagram, "you know to avoid the whole dying thing."

Trish -- who said she initially thought nothing of the pain but decided to go to the doc after it kept getting worse -- posted videos of herself on a hospital bed both before and after the procedure. She seemed to be in good spirits in both clips, and said afterward "recovery hasn’t been too bad so far, definitely manageable."

"Got 3 new scars to add to my body badges and one less organ," she said ... adding, "Turns out it’s an organ that serves no function so good riddance old pal."

The 46-year-old -- who was inducted into WWE's Hall of Fame in 2013 -- is now encouraging people to check in with their doctors about stomach pain instead of waiting until it's too late to intervene.

"A reminder that if you ever have a nagging pain in your lower right quadrant - do go to emergency," she wrote.

Some of Trish's ex-contemporaries like Torrie Wilson, Mickie James, and Renee Paquette commented on her post ... wishing the former women's champ a speedy recovery.

Lil Baby No-Shows in Vancouver ... Festival Fans Riot in Protest!!!

BONKERS FOR BABY

Lil Baby caused a riot during Vancouver's Breakout Festival which isn't unusual as festivals go, except for the fact the headlining rapper was nowhere to be found onstage ... or anywhere at the venue!!!

Video shows fans utterly destroying sections of the PNE Amphitheater on Sunday after learning Baby had canceled his set last minute.

The scene began to resemble a war zone in some places ... with angry fans lighting tents on fire while others toppled food stands and garbage dumpsters.

At one point, the mob even infiltrated a tent, leaving no TV monitor standing ... with no regard for the shattered glass that was flung everywhere.

Baby was the top act for Sunday's show ... with fellow rappers Polo G, Cordae, Coi Leray, Babyface Ray and others as the backup and as you can see, was promoted heavily by the fest as being a big draw.

On Monday, Lil Baby let out a lengthy apology on IG ... saying his body gave out on him following his summer tour with Chris Brown, and begged the forgiveness of Vancouver, Breakout Fest and all the fans in attendance.

He should've added the cleanup crew to that list.

Baby promised to make up "big time" in some form or fashion down the line ... but the damage is clearly done.

Tim McGraw can rest easy ... if he's in danger of busting his ass, his fans and security will be there for him -- a fairly pain-free lesson he learned in the middle of his latest concert.

Tim was doing a show in Tempe, AZ when he walked to the end of the stage, kneeled down and turned his back to the crowd. The country superstar lost his balance as he went down to one knee, and suddenly ... whoops!!!

It looked to be about a 6-foot fall, at most, but amazingly Tim emerged totally unscathed -- thanks to his security, a fan or 2 and his own athleticism.

UPDATE

10:16 AM PT -- Post Malone just sent an update to his fans, letting them know he's okay ... while also explaining what exactly happened to make him eat it.

UPDATE
UPDATE

The singer says that during the acoustic part of his show, there's an area on the stage that opens up to lower instruments ... something he apparently forgot about as he was walking around and fell right through it. As he puts it, he busted his own ass.

UPDATE

PM apologizes for the show having to be cut short, and says he'll make it up to St. Louis later. He also says he's doing okay after a hospital visit, and that the tour will continue.

Post Malone took a super nasty fall onstage ... it was so bad, medics had to help him off and the fans didn't know whether to wait it out or pack it in.

It happened Saturday night in St. Louis at the Enterprise Center halfway through the concert, where he was performing "Circles."

Post was showin' his stuff as he walked down a ramp that extended onto the floor of the arena. It would've gone fine, but there was a hole in the floor that he used to lower his guitar and it hadn't been covered up.

He stepped in it and took an awful fall ... sprawled out on the concert floor. An eyewitness tells TMZ one of his legs was shaking uncontrollably. Medics rushed in and eventually flanked him as he left the stage.

He asked fans to give him a few minutes to collect himself, but clearly, everyone was concerned and some doubtful he'd even return.

15 minutes later, Post resurfaced and performed "Rockstar" and "Cooped Up." "Rockstar" fits because Post was determined to continue even though he clearly was in pain ... clutching his ribs as he sang.

Post thanked the crowd for hangin' in there and told them there was a "big-ass hole in the stage" and even apologized -- not necessary. He finished out the show and even stayed after to sign a few autographs.

No word on his condition ... but he's scheduled to continue his "Twelve Carat Tour" in Columbus Sunday.

Bam Margera Back to Rehab ... Program Restructured Now

Bam Margera is back on the road to recovery, but this time ... they're gonna be rejiggering things to avoid yet another episode of escape déjà vu.

Sources connected to Bam tell TMZ ... earlier this week the former 'Jackass' star returned to his court-ordered rehab program, except there are some major changes going forward that'll hopefully benefit him and everyone in his orbit.

We're told Bam's team got his plan restructured a bit through a judge ... with the major tweak being that he no longer has to be in an in-patient facility, which clearly was not working.

Just a reminder ... Bam has fled rehab multiple times in Florida over the past few months, only to be located by law enforcement and dragged back to continue his treatment. The fact it keeps happening over and over meant a new approach was needed ... so now, our sources say they're gonna try an outpatient approach and pray for different results.

With that said, the restrictions placed on Bam will continue to be strict ... including the fact he must remain sober, attend classes and continue seeing a psychiatrist -- same as if he were in the actual facility.

If you're wondering how exactly things turned since last time -- when Bam was spotted at a bar in Florida -- this as he was apparently considering fleeing the state -- we're told his loved ones were able to convince him to abandon that plan and see this thing through to the end.

That's obviously great news, but on the family front -- with his estranged wife and kid, specifically -- things are still icy ... as we're told Bam's been shut out completely.

Kofi Kingston Blown Away By Logan Paul In WWE 'He Shouldn't Be That Good'

ONE STEP AT A TIME
TMZSports.com

Kofi Kingston is in awe at how fast Logan Paul has transitioned into a WWE Superstar ... telling TMZ Sports the YouTuber's skills in the squared circle are unreal!

We recently caught up with Kofi -- a 14x WWE tag team champ -- out at LAX, and he told us Paul's star power, coupled with his ability to pick up the craft quickly, makes him a perfect fit for WWE.

"To me, it just makes sense," Kingston said. "When you think about how popular Logan Paul is and even his entire story. His come-up and what he's been able to do in the world of boxing and entertainment in general, it would only make sense for us to be hand in glove."

Kofi praised Paul -- who alongside The Miz, wrestled his first match against Rey and Dominik Mysterio at WrestleMania 38 -- saying, "he has a bright future ahead of him."

"To see what he did in the ring is very impressive," Kofi said.

"Especially as a performer who has seen a lot of people and has gone through the whole learning process, he shouldn't be that good, that quickly."

Kingston -- 1/3 of the "The New Day" -- said he takes Logan's word when he says pro wrestling is harder than boxing  ... adding it's a "true art."

"Well, I've never been a professional boxer, but it's awesome to hear him say that and kind of put respect on the grind that is WWE."

Kingston also said Big E's injury -- where he was dropped on his neck by Ridge Holland following a botched move -- reminds him how scary it is being a WWE performer.

"With E's situation and him breaking his neck ... you're reminded of just how dangerous what we do is," Kofi said. "It only takes one second for everything to go awry."

"With his situation, we really lucked out."

Cara Delevingne Friends Desperate ... Say She Needs Rehab and Therapy, Stat

Cara Delevingne's friends say she's in a bad way -- struggling with issues that go beyond substance abuse -- and their desperation to get her help is becoming increasingly obvious.

One of the model's closest friends, Margot Robbie, was visibly distraught this week shortly after leaving Cara's L.A. home.

Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ there's good reason Margot's emotions came pouring out that day. We're told Cara's been struggling for a while now, initially with mental health issues, but now the people closest to her believe she needs rehab too.

We're told Margot and other friends are advocating for Cara to immediately get into a treatment program that includes mental therapy as well as substance abuse treatment.

You might recall, Cara and Margot went on vacay together in August ... traveling to Spain with other friends to celebrate Cara's 30th birthday, and since then she's appeared increasingly erratic in public.
