Never one to let a little thing like an impending trip to rehab get in her way, Lindsay Lohan descended upon Indio, CA last night with her brother to hit up the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

As TMZ first reported, LiLo has been swearing to friends that despite the numerous temptations Coachella brings ... she plans to stay completely clean throughout the weekend.

The Coachella Music Festival is drawing celebrities to the desert in Indio, California like a hipster journey to Mecca!

Lindsay Lohan is going on her yearly pilgrimage to a place where drugs and alcohol are as plentiful as Botox in Bev Hills ... but she SWEARS she'll stay clean.

Lindsay is telling friends ... she doesn't care about all the snipers who are scoffing at the recidivist rehabber -- she says she's not living her life for other people.

LiLo insists she's going for the music and wants to have some fun -- just like last year (above) -- before checking into the rehab facility for a 90-day stay.

Lindsay is also insisting she doesn't have a problem with drugs or alcohol ... leading lots of us to wonder how on earth rehab is going to work. In fact, Michael Lohan told us Thursday on TMZ Live ... he expects his daughter will fail.

The rebound is officially underway for Katy Perry ... who was all about the PDA with her new man at Coachella ... hugging, caressing and full on making out.

The guy is Robert Ackroyd -- the guitar player for Florence and The Machine.

The two were also spotted together at the music festival last weekend ... and according to some reports, Katy was already referring to him as her "boyfriend."

Guess she's finally ready to move on from her soon-to-be ex-husband Russell Brand -- who filed for divorce back in December.

As TMZ has previously reported, Brand and Perry have been on relatively good terms since the breakup ... with Brand refusing to make a play for any of the millions of dollars Perry raked in during their relationship.

Suge Knight is FURIOUS over the look of 2Pac's hologram at Coachella ... telling TMZ the people who created it screwed up one major detail.

The rapper was out in Los Angeles last night when he pointed out that the 3D hologram used to bring 2Pac to life on stage was missing the rapper's famous Death Row Records chain.

Knight told us, "At the end of the day, how you gonna take the Death Row chain off Pac? That's like taking the Raiders symbol off the Raiders."

Dr. Dre says he's THRILLED with the way his Tupac hologram rocked Coachella this weekend ... and tells TMZ he would love to see a Jimi Hendrix-ogram follow Pac's lead.

The hip-hop legend was at Boa steakhouse in Hollywood last night when he told us he's so fired up about the Tupac show, he's breaking out the hologram AGAIN at the next Coachella concert on Sunday ... and he's even thinking about taking Pac on tour.

Dre says he's hopeful the 2pac concert will inspire other artists to resurrect legendary musicians like Jimi Hendrix and Marvin Gaye.

One member of the Lohan family caused serious problems at Coachella this weekend -- garnering noise and smoking complaints at a Palm Springs hotel -- but it wasn't the Lohan you'd expect ...

Sources tell TMZ, 24-year-old Michael Lohan Jr. was staying at the Hyatt Grand Champions Resort in Indian Wells, CA -- and around 3AM Friday morning, the hotel received a noise complaint about his room.

We're told hotel management paid a visit to Michael's room after the complaint -- and the party inside agreed to keep the volume down.

But it didn't end there -- we're told someone then made a complaint about someone smoking in Michael's room ... and hotel management was forced to pay the room ANOTHER visit.

We're told management informed the room's occupants it was non-smoking only -- and the smoker put out his cigarette.

We're told the hotel did not assess Michael a smoking fee.

MiLo Jr. tells TMZ, “I drove from LA to the desert at 1am and went to sleep within 20 minutes of arriving ... Others went to another room where a noise complaint may have been filed. Never were we involved in a complaint nor do either of us smoke cigarettes."

Tupac's famously protective mother Afeni Shakur agrees with the rest of the planet -- the rapper's resurrection at Coachella this weekend ... in the form of an incredibly lifelike hologram ... was mind-blowingly awesome.

A rep for Afeni tells TMZ, she was absolutely positively THRILLED with Tupac's virtual performance -- when he appeared alongside Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg during the headlining show at Coachella last night ... walking back and forth across the stage like he was actually present.

Afeni didn't attend the performance -- but we're told she watched it unfold live on the Internet ... but while it was thrilling, the entire experience was bittersweet.

The rep says Dr. Dre asked Afeni for approval to incorporate Pac into his performance -- and she said yes. As a thank you, we're told Dre made a donation to the rapper's charity ... The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation.

Tupac came back to life this weekend ... as a hologram ... and it was frickin' AMAZING!!!.

Pac was resurrected for the Coachella music festival in California ... and "performed" a couple of his greatest hits ... including "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted" with Snoop Dogg.

We're told the crowd went INSANE ... especially when 2pac first appeared to the crowd ... rising up from the ground until he was standing on the stage.

The movements were remarkably lifelike ... grabbing his crotch and pointing his mic to the crowd like the good ole days.

At the end of his performance, a light shines on Pac ... and he dissipates into thin air.

Lindsay Lohan is telling friends she doesn't feel she did anything wrong by going to Coachella this weekend -- because the judge in her probation case told her to avoid clubs ... and Coachella doesn't qualify.

Our sources tell us, Lindsay feels she didn't thumb her nose at Judge Stephanie Sautner, because Coachella is really just a gigantic concert and she was just there for the music.

We're told Lindsay went to a few different events during the weekend and was very conscious lots of people were whispering about her -- specifically, that she was in the danger zone by even showing up. The way she feels ... she's gone to Coachella for the last 4 or 5 years so she didn't think this year was a big deal.

Lindsay insists she didn't have a drop of alcohol during the weekend -- she feels she can control herself, even in a situation filled with temptation.

Lindsay is currently under investigation for allegedly assaulting a woman at a hotel bar, but Lindsay claims she wasn't even out that night.

Lindsay Lohan has clearly discounted/ignored the advice of Judge Stephanie Sautner who urged her to stay away from the club scene, because she was front and center at hard-partying Coachella this weekend.

She was there with a dude, didn't drink as far as we can tell, but nonetheless the temptations at the music festival are endless.

On the upside, she looked good.

Nate Dogg isn't letting a little thing like death keep him away from Coachella this weekend -- sources tell TMZ, the rapper will be making a very special guest appearance on stage ... in the form of a HOLOGRAM.

Sources tell us, Dr. Dre didn't want to leave Nate out of his Sunday performance -- so he's incorporating his old friend using hologram technology ... the same technology that broadcast Mariah Carey's image across Europe last year ... at 5 simultaneous concerts.

We're told an image of Nate will be projected onto the Coachella stage -- alongside Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Warren G, and Daz Dillinger -- to make it appear as though he's actually performing on stage.

According to sources, Nate will perform several songs.

The singer passed away last March -- just weeks before last year's Coachella festival.

Chappelle made a rare public appearance at the Coachella Music Festival in California this past weekend ... hanging out with his friend Erykah Badu during the Kanye West performance.

It was all during a performance by Duck Sauce on Sunday -- so the bill kinda makes sense.

The Sexy Sax Man -- real name Sergio Flores -- was scheduled to perform at a roller skating event Saturday morning ... but Flores tells TMZ, he got bumped at the last second for MGMT's lead singer Andrew VanWyngarden ... who wanted to DJ a set.

Sergio tells us, he feels "completely blindsided by Coachella organizers" -- adding, they didn't even comp his ticket.

But Sergio didn't get TOTALLY rejected -- Flores tells us several fans tracked him down and chanted his name until he emerged from his tent that night. So the Sax Man broke 'em off a piece of George Michael's "Careless Whisper" ... and thank god ... we got the footage.
