Audio Expert: Britney Recording Was 'Manipulated'

A highly-respected audio expert tells TMZ ... Jason Alexander's recording of the woman he claims is Britney Spears "has been electronically stepped on."

Tom Owen of OWL Investigations, and Chairman of the Audio Engineering Society Standards Committee of Forensic Audio, tells TMZ, the tape was "doctored" to such a severe extent, there's no way to conduct a meaningful voice-recognition test.

Owen says the tape has been "stepped on at least 3 times." With noise reduction, equalization and removal of voice qualities such as natural timbre, sibilance and tonal qualities, it's impossible to determine whether Britney's voice is on the tape.

Owen says Britney has a "very vanilla voice" and that with manipulation it wouldn't be that difficult to make someone sound like her.

Britney Spears and Jason Trawick just hightailed it out of the William Morris Endeavor Entertainment agency.

Britney went to see Jason earlier this afternoon at the Beverly Hills offices where he works.

As we first reported, Jason is telling people the voice on the audio tape recorded by Jason Alexander is not Britney's.

Britney's people are vehement -- it's not Brit's voice, Trawick never beat her, and they plan to sue.

Britney Pays Visit to Jason Trawick At Work

Britney Spears went to the William Morris Endeavor Entertainment agency in Bev Hills this afternoon ... to visit boyfriend Jason Trawick in a show of solidarity.

Britney spent time with Jason inside the building, left by car and then returned. The pic of Brit (above) is her coming back to the agency to see her BF.

We also got this pic of Jason outside William Morris, where he works as an agent. It's interesting, because Jason's not running for cover.

Our sources say Trawick has been adamant today ... the voice on the recording is not his girlfriend's. Jason joins Britney's camp in slamming the publication of Jason Alexander's audio tapes, in which he claims Britney told him Trawick beat her.

Britney Spears' Official Statement: The Tape Is Bogus

Britney Spears' rep just gave TMZ a statement, which calls the audio recording posting online "so obviously fake as to be laughable."

The statement we received goes on: "Suffice it to say, Jason Trawick has never laid a hand on Britney."

And the rep lashes out, "This is just another example of the irresponsible nature of the tabloid media relying on shoddy sources and false information for the sole purpose of selling magazines, without regard to the truth and without regard to who they hurt in the process." The rep says Star was informed that the story was bogus in advance, but still published it.

The rep adds that "The statements attributed to Jason Alexander are a complete fabrication as Britney has not had any form of communication with Mr. Alexander in years."

And, the rep says, "These irresponsible statements are defamatory and Britney Spears' legal team will be taking legal action against all of the appropriate parties."

Audio Expert: It's Not Britney Spears

A certified audio expert who has analyzed the purported recordings of Britney Spears speaking to Jason Alexander tells TMZ ... he believes the female voice is not Britney.

Arlo West, who is a certified forensic audio expert, tells us, "In my opinion, it's not her voice in the recording."

West, who compared the recordings with a half dozen interviews Britney has done over the years, says "Listening to the phonetics, it doesn't appear to be authentic," adding, "the mannerisms in her voice just don't match up."

Team Britney Jason Never Hit Her, Audio Is FAKE

The audiotape reportedly featuring Britney Spears saying that she was beaten by her boyfriend is 100% FAKE -- this according to one of Britney's co-conservators.

TMZ spoke to Andrew Wallet who told us, "Every aspect of the story published by Star Magazine is completely and utterly false."

He continues, "Star Magazine was informed of the falsity of the story before it was published. All the statements attributable to Jason Alexander [in the Star Magazine story] are completely fabricated."

Wallet continues, "The audio recording posted on RadarOnline is a fraud and it is NOT Britney.

The audio they are allegedly relying on between Britney and Jason Alexander is obviously fake and ridiculous -- it is NOT HER.

Jason Trawick has never abused her.

They have defamed Britney Spears and we will be taking appropriate legal action."

Britney Reportedly 'Beaten' By Boyfriend

Britney Spears complained to her first husband that her current boyfriend beat her ... this according to Star magazine.

According to the mag, Jason Alexander secretly taped Britney when she called him on October 10, complaining about Jason Trawick. Jason says Britney "...told me that he hit her so hard it gave her a black eye." Alexander adds, "She said she couldn't even leave the house for a week because of the bruising."

In the secretly recorded tape, Jason says, "I thought he proposed to you or something at the beach."
The woman purported to be Britney responds, "Before or after he beat on me."

The tape also references Britney allegedly saying, "My dad has a shotgun and he's just waiting to use it."

Trawick could not be immediately reached for comment.
