Paris Hilton defied the reality of Thanksgiving by showing up a little lighter ... but only lighter by a bunch of carats.

Paris strolled through the Melbourne airport Thursday, looking relaxed and happy after her breakup with fiance Chris Zylka. She was coy about pretty much everything, which means things are back to normal.

Check out her ring finger ... it's bare. As we reported, Chris is legally entitled to get the $2 million engagement ring back from her, although we're told up to this point he hasn't asked for it.

We're told Chris got the ring at a massive discount because the jeweler has a long-standing relationship with Paris. That means he's positioned for a huge windfall if he gets it back and sells it.

As for Paris, she's already ridiculously rich so it doesn't matter much.

David Guetta and his GF are not walking down the aisle anytime soon -- or ever, really ... but the DJ did give her that giant diamond ring she's rocking. Let us explain.

Sources close to the couple tell TMZ ... the EDM superstar straight-up doesn't believe in marriage -- anymore, anyway -- and that's why he and actress Jessica Ledon are NOT engaged. As we reported ... the couple was hanging on Miami Beach this week and her big ol' ring drew a lot of attention.

And, the story behind the rock? We're told it's a promise ring David gave Jessica last year -- a promise to "love and commitment" ... but NOT a promise to walk down the aisle.

As you know, David got married once before ... in 1992 to Cathy Guetta. They divorced in 2014.

David and Jessica have been dating since 2015 and, obviously, still going strong.

Paris Hilton has yet to return the VERY expensive ring Chris Zylka gave her when he got on bended knee earlier this year, but it may just be a matter of time before she has to fork it over.

Sources close to Chris tell us, he bought the ring -- valued at $2 MILLION. Based on what we know, he got a massive discount. The jeweler and Paris have a close relationship, and publicity for jewelers is as valuable as cold, hard cash.

Now ... we're told Paris is the one who broke off the engagement. Under California law, if she calls off the engagement, he gets the ring back. And, not surprisingly, we're told he wants it back.

We're told Paris and Chris haven't seen each other since the split, and he hasn't requested that she turn the ring back ... but we know he wants it.

It's pretty damn unique, with a massive 20-carat diamond, which took about 4 months to cut.

You'd think something that valuable would've been safe and sound on Paris' finger, but it's been lost and found at least once since Chris proposed in Aspen.
