Reese Witherspoon is still bearing the scars from a run-in with a car last week -- sporting a big black eye ... 6 days after she was run over by an 84-year-old woman.

Reese was out in L.A. yesterday, smiling on her way to a birthday party -- despite the big band-aid on her forehead.

A different photo that we quickly learned had been taken BEFORE the accident had made the rounds last week showing Reese looking fine ... but the fact is, that photo was taken before Reese was hit by a car in Santa Monica.

As TMZ previously reported, Reese was hospitalized after the accident on Wednesday, but she was soon released after doctors determined her injuries were only minor.

Greenspan writes, "Christina is a wonderful mother and was not present in the park when Max fell and hurt himself."

He adds, "To imply that she had something to do with this incident, without any investigation on your part whatsoever, is reckless and unconscionable."

After threatening to pursue legal action against the site, Greenspan concludes, "HAVE YOU NO SHAME!!!!"

MTO has since removed the child abuse reference from the headline.

Mogul Richard Branson had his home on a private island in the Caribbean burn to the ground this morning, and his 90-year-old mother might have died in the blaze ... if not for the help of Kate Winslet.

Branson recanted the harrowing tale on his blog this morning, saying that 20 people were inside the home at the time of the fire ... but they all managed to get out fine. He said the main house -- on Necker Island -- was completely destroyed.

Branson cited a tropical storm as the cause, saying a lightning storm hit the house around 4:00 AM.

As for the dramatic rescue of his elderly mother, Branson wrote, "... many thanks to Kate Winslet for helping to carry my 90 year mum out of the main house to safety wondering when a Director was going to shout CUT!"

There has been a buzz about a mysterious injury Taylor Armstrong suffered just 4 days before her estranged husband, Russell, committed suicide, but Taylor's friends insist the cut above her eye was not inflicted by him.

Taylor's friends tell TMZ ... the injury occurred while she was playing a game of football.

Taylor filed for divorce last month, claiming Russell physically abused her.

"Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Taylor Armstrong hasn't broken the news yet about Russell's suicide to her 5-year-old daughter Kennedy ... TMZ has learned.

Friends close to Taylor tell us, "She's not emotionally ready to do so just yet."

Taylor's attorney, Robert Thorne, tells us, "Taylor Armstrong is devastated by the tragic events that have unfolded. She requests privacy at this time so that she may comfort her young daughter."

The attorney adds, "Her thoughts and prayers are also with Russell's 11- and 13-year-old sons."

Russell Armstrong, the estranged husband of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Taylor Armstrong, was found dead of an apparent suicide ... sources tell TMZ.

Our sources say Armstrong hanged himself. He was found hanging in his bedroom on Mulholland Drive.

We're told L.A. City Fire Department arrived at his home and pronounced him dead at 8:16 PM Monday. Sources say a roommate found Russell and called 911.

We're told authorities have not found a suicide note.

Taylor filed for divorce last month, after she claimed Russell physically abused her. We're told authorities informed her of Russell's death last night.

He was 47 years old.

8:13 AM: Bravo and the cast of "Real Housewives" were unaware of Russell's death. Kyle Richards was distraught when she saw the TMZ post, and Lisa Vanderpump was speechless.

9:29 AM: A rep for Bravo tells TMZ, “All of us at Bravo are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Our sympathy and thoughts are with the Armstrong family at this difficult time."

9:35 AM: Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... no drugs or alcohol were found in the bedroom where Russell died. He was fully clothed when his body was discovered.

"Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Russell Armstrong was at his wits end over his impending divorce from Taylor in the days leading to his death -- and he was inundated with debt.

Russell's lawyer Ronald Richards tells TMZ, Russell had been staying at a friend's house on Mulholland Drive in L.A. -- the same house where authorities found his body hanging last night.

Richards tells us, "I feel bad because his credit cards weren't working ... He had tremendous financial problems."

Richards adds, "He was also extremely bummed out about the divorce with Taylor. As far as a will, even if he does have a will, they don't have any assets, so I'm not sure what there would be left to leave. I am extremely saddened ... I had no idea he was depressed."

As we previously reported, Russell -- an investor who made his money in the 90s during the dot com boom -- filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2005, claiming he had less than $50,000 in assets ... and debt somewhere between $1 and $10 million.

Russell Armstrong's lawyer tells TMZ, he was blindsided by the sudden death of the "Real Housewives" star -- claiming, he spoke to Russell just days before his suicide ... and he seemed ok.

According to Ronald Richards -- Russell was a loving family man ... who spent every dwindling dollar he had to finance his estranged wife's lifestyle.

Ronald also has a theory about the effect of reality shows on marriage ... one that may explain Russell's inner torment -- watch the clip to check it out.

On the surface it's the unkindest cut of all ... Arnold Schwarzenegger out bike riding Sunday in Santa Monica, wearing a shirt that says, "I survived Maria" -- the woman whom he betrayed so badly.

But there's more to this story. We found out ... Arnold got the shirt last November, during a farewell party for the Governator's staff. The shirts were actually designed by Maria's staff, as a joke. The shirt they presented to Arnold had 2007 crossed out and 1977 scribbled above -- that's the year Arnold and Maria started dating.

Casey Anthony was hanging out in Ohio this past weekend ... and now new photos -- the first since her release from jail -- have surfaced showing the 25-year-old hiding in plain sight during a mid-day shopping trip.

Casey was photographed on Sunday -- trying to blend in by wearing an Ohio State University baseball cap, a tight-fitting top and glasses as she walked around town ... stopping at an Old Navy to check out some dresses.

Anthony has several relatives who live in Ohio -- but it's unclear if she has spent time them. Sources extremely close to Anthony tell us she has been bouncing around the country ever since her release from jail after being acquitted of murdering her daughter.

Next stop -- no one seems to know.

However, TMZ broke the story ... Casey intends to seek treatment for mental issues. No word on where and when that will happen.

Charlie and Brooke are working hard to mend their relationship so they can co-parent their kids. We're also told ... when Brooke completes her treatment, Charlie wants to move her to a home in his neighborhood, so they can spend more time together ... as a family.

Brooke Mueller is getting the same rehab treatments Charlie recently went through himself ... and he's picking up the tab.

Sources close to Sheen told TMZ he didn't like the idea of Brooke going down to Mexico for rehab, saying he felt the treatment there was dangerous and he felt she might die. As we first reported, the treatment involved prescribing a drug that's not legal in the United States.

We're told Charlie actually flew down to Mexico in a private jet, picked her up, and brought her back to the States. Brooke was only south of the border for 12 hours before Charlie scooped her up.

Then, according to our sources, Charlie decided to bring back his own team of doctors -- the ones he used a few months back when the "Two and a Half Men" people wanted him to get treatment.

We're told he's now set Brooke up at an undisclosed location and is paying for the whole thing.

Looks like Brooke will soon be winning at rehab herself.

La La is helping to raise money for Oxfam by selling off some of her amazing fashions -- such as a pair Giuseppe Zanotti black leather boots and a dress by Diane von Furstenberg.

The problem is ... La La didn't set a reserve price (a price that HAS to be reached during bidding or else the item would not be sold) for any of the items -- which means La La could be parting with some of her things for a fraction of what their worth.

Little Eloise is making her first trip to NYC!

Denise Richards was spotted at JFK airport last night with her adopted baby and older daughters Sam and Lola -- giving us another great look at the newborn girl.

The 15k sq. foot hotbed of paranormal activity where the kids from "American Idol" lived last season has a brand new owner -- a baby toy mogul who plunked down $11.2 mil on the L.A. mansion!

The "Idol" gang FREAKED OUT when a series of crazy "coincidences" occurred in the Bev Hills mansion back in March ... including a spooky spider infestation, flickering lights and one of the wannabes SWORE they saw a white sheet come to life and float down the stairs.

But now, the house has officially sold to a guy named Steven B. Dunn -- the guy who started a baby product company called Munchkin, Inc. ... which posted more than $100 mil in sales in 2008.

The house -- 9 beds, 9 baths, giant pool, marble all over the place and a motor court with enough room to park 100 cars -- was originally on the market for $12 mil ... so it appears Dunn got himself quite a deal.

Arnold's lawyer, Bob Kaufman, checked the box on the legal docs asking the judge to terminate any right on Maria's part to get spousal support. Maria asked for spousal support in her petition.

Arnold -- like Maria -- is asking for joint custody of the couple's two minor children.

And there's another conflict. Maria is asking Arnold to pay for her attorney's fees. Arnold's response asks that the judge make each party foot the bill for their respective lawyers.

TMZ broke the story ... there is no prenup, so under California law both Arnold and Maria are entitled to a 50/50 split of all earnings and property accumulated during their 25-year marriage. The two are estimated to be worth around $400 million.

Fact is ... since -- as we first reported -- Arnold will get the very expensive family home -- Maria will probably end up with at least as much if not more cash than Arnold, so spousal support may become a non-issue ... especially since Arnold isn't earning any real money right now.

Hundreds of "Twilight" fans were camped out at Comic-Con overnight -- and this morning, they got quite the wake-up call!

"Breaking Dawn" stars Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Julia Jones, Booboo Stewart and Elizabeth Reaser all showed up to surprise the fans, bringing water, fruit, muffins and a whole lot of excitement to the crowd.

The "Twilight" stars all took time to sign autographs and take photos with people waiting for today's "Breaking Dawn Part 1" panel today at 11:15AM.

The final season of "Entourage" kicks off this coming Sunday -- and last night, the gang attended their last premiere party for the show.

Adrian Grenier, Jeremy Piven, Jerry Ferrara, Kevin Dillon, Kevin Connolly all celebrated on Tuesday at the Museum of Natural History in NYC, where they were joined by series creator Mark Wahlberg, co-star Emmanuelle Chriqui and stars like Ben Kingsley, Pharrell, Selita Ebanks and Johnny Galecki.

While it may be the final premiere party for the show, it might not be the final premiere for "Entourage" as a whole, as a film version of the show has been rumored for a while now.

Chris Brown is at war with his fellow West Hollywood condo owners, who claim the rapper is the neighbor from hell, parking in handicapped spaces, blasting music, and racing dogs in hallways.

TMZ has obtained several pics of Brown's super-expensive rides ... clearly parked in spaces reserved for disabled drivers. We're told Chris has been ticketed numerous times by the city.

The building manager tells us everyone is fed up and they're now planning on towing Chris' cars if he dares park there again.

Chris' lawyer, Mark Geragos, tells TMZ, Chris is the one who's getting screwed. Geragos says, the deed clearly shows the two spaces belong to Chris, but the developer never disclosed the spots were reserved for the handicapped. Geragos says Chris is in litigation with the building over the spaces and plans to fight the tickets as well. But the building manager says Chris is parking in other handicapped spots as well.

But the gripes go beyond parking spaces. Chris' fellow condo-owners tell TMZ ... the dude is utterly disrespectful, blasting loud music and partying day and night ... even racing dogs down the hallways at all hours.

And that's not all. We're told police showed up this week, after someone vandalized the elevator by carving "C.B." on the elevator door.

Mind you ... Chris has only lived in the building a few months.

It's condo-mania!

San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates had one hell of a productive off-season -- the future Hall-of-Famer just got married to his longtime girlfriend ... and TMZ has the pics.

Gates -- who will probably be the #1 tight end drafted in your 2011 fantasy league -- tied the knot to model-turned-business owner Sasha Dindayal on July 9 during a lavish ceremony at the Grand Del Mar hotel in San Diego.

We're told several Chargers were among the 250 guests -- including defensive stars Shaun Phillips and Stephen Cooper.

But the best part -- THE FOOD!!! Guests were treated to a 5-course meal ... consisting of duck foie gras ... caramelized shallot ravioli in a brandy butter sauce ... braised short ribs and grilled prawns with buttermilk mashed potatoes ... and for dessert -- red velvet wedding cake with marble sponge cake which was FLOWN IN from Trinidad.

After the ceremony, the couple took off to Tahiti for the honeymoon.
