Donald Trump seems to have missed the memo on Johnny Carson's death ... calling for the late-night legend to return to 'The Tonight Show' 19 years after dying.

The former prez addressed his supporters at a rally in Pennsylvania Monday, where he took a moment to take shots at late-night TV. Specifically, Trump appeared to take an issue with Jimmy Fallon and his version of 'The Tonight Show,' which he described as "dying."

During this tangent in his address, the Republican nominee called on Carson to return to the long-running talk show and asked the crowd ... "Where's Johnny Carson???"

11:00 AM PT -- Nassau County PD Commissioner Patrick Ryder tells TMZ ... "Reports of explosives being found at the site are unfounded. There is a person who is being questioned who may have been training a bomb detection dog near the site. The individual with the bomb dog falsely reported explosives being found and that individual is currently being detained by the police."

After two assassination attempts on Donald Trump's life this year, a fresh threat was reported Wednesday -- and though it's been dismissed as bogus, it’s probably not doing much to ease  Trump and his team’s nerves.

This morning, journalist James Lalino claimed in an X post ... Nassau County Police Department sources told him the perimeter at Trump’s Long Island rally site at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum was apparently "breached" and a "blue barrel" was removed.

Lalino also claimed during a K9 sweep, authorities supposedly found an explosive device in one of the vehicles nearby, and the driver fled into the woods.

4:28 PM PT -- A spokesperson for J.D. Vance tells TMZ ... "The media is making a story up out of thin air. Senator Vance was referring to the fact that he prefers fried chicken, and his wife prefers curry chicken. Fried chicken was a staple in the Vance household when JD was a kid, as he wrote in Hillbilly Elegy."

J.D. Vance is catching heat for taking Laura Loomer's racist Kamala Harris diss to the next level ... adding fried chicken to the mix, along with a side of curry.

In a recent interview on NBC News' "Meet The Press," Vance tells Kristen Welker ... "Whether you're eating curry at your dinner table or fried chicken, things have gotten more expensive thanks to her policies."

Vance was being asked about Loomer's recent racist comments aimed at the Vice President ... namely, saying if Harris, whose mom was Indian American, got elected, the White House would "smell like curry."

New body cam footage of the arrest of Ryan Wesley Routh, the suspected would-be Donald Trump assassin, explains why Martin County Sheriff William Snyder "was taken aback" over the capture.

Watch the video ... Routh is seen calmly walking backward with his shirt lifted over his head as sheriff's deputies holding guns shout instructions at him. The suspect barely utters a word while following directions to a T ... keeping his composure as he surrenders to the authorities, who slap a pair of handcuffs on him.

He even offers up his name without protest when asked by deputies to identify himself ... showing he was not rattled during the high-profile arrest.

The Secret Service is once again facing heat after the agency's acting director Ronald Rowe Jr. admitted the West Palm Beach golf course wasn't searched prior to the 2nd assassination attempt on Donald Trump's life.

Rowe -- who stepped into the role after Kimberly Cheatle resigned following the July shooting at Trump's Pennsylvania rally -- spoke with reporters Monday, and confessed an extensive search of the grounds was not conducted during 45's visit to the Trump International Golf Club in Florida Sunday ... defending the visit was "not on [Trump's] official schedule."

He added ... "The president wasn’t even really supposed to go there ... and so we put together a security plan -- and that security plan worked."
