Frank Grillo is clarifying his claim about his relationship with Marvel ... with the actor telling us he was not almost axed from the superhero studio.

ICYMI ... Grillo, who is best known for playing Brock Rumlow AKA Crossbones in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, said in a recent interview that he was nearly given the pink slip on 36 different occasions while working for the Disney-owned brand.

However, we caught up with the actor at LAX Airport and he made it clear his comments were taken far too literally ... defending he was just joking around about his big mouth.

Fatman Scoop passed away after collapsing onstage in Connecticut last month ... and, now the medical examiner has revealed his official cause of death.

A rep for the Connecticut M.E.'s office tells TMZ ... Scoop -- born Isaac Freeman III -- passed away from hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

We're told they consider this cause of death to be natural ... no foul play suspected.

1:15 PM PT -- A rep for Secret Service tells TMZ ... "The Secret Service cannot provide the details on our means and methods of protection, but we can confirm that at no time were any Secret Service protectees in the vehicle while the individual was walking down the alleyway. These claims are inaccurate. The photo in question was upon departure and not during the alleged incident."

However, TMZ has spoken with an eyewitness who tells us the armed security guard approached the window and observed Obama inside using a laptop ... and because the guard was armed, he quickly moved away from the SUV.

Barack Obama coming inches away from an armed stranger in a Hollywood alleyway is the latest stunning lapse of Secret Service security -- an absolutely shocking scene that played out last weekend ... TMZ has learned.

The former president was sitting in the back seat of his SUV Saturday around 7:30 PM outside hot spot restaurant Mother Wolf -- and that's when the armed man approached the vehicle, in his capacity as a security guard for a bar mitzvah going on upstairs from the restaurant.

We spoke to the armed guard -- who asked us not to use his name -- and he says he went downstairs to check the scene, because someone told him it appeared federal agents were outside, and they didn't know why.

Wrestling star Alan Vera -- who just narrowly missed qualifying for Team USA's Olympic roster earlier this year -- has sadly died at 33 years old ... after he suffered a medical emergency while playing soccer earlier this summer.

USA Wrestling Executive Director Rich Bender announced the tragic news on Wednesday ... revealing Vera had been in the hospital fighting to recover from a July 29 cardiac arrest when he passed away.
