Hilary Swank says all actors are pretending ... so, she's for non-trans actors playing trans characters and vice versa -- at least, it seems that's what she's saying.

The two-time Oscar winner famously won her first back in 2000 after playing trans man Brandon Teena in the biopic "Boys Don't Cry" and reflected on the role in an interview with The Times of London.

While breaking down her part in the film, Swank acknowledges she wouldn't take the role today, saying her part in it was a sign of the times and adding a trans actor could really sink their teeth into the Brandon role today.

Ncuti Gatwa's blasting attitudes toward Black actors ... saying they've got to perform flawlessly to get love -- while "white mediocrity" is loved by the masses.

Gatwa -- who's the first Black Doctor in the show "Doctor Who" -- spoke with Attitude for its May/June issue ... when he was asked about the backlash to him taking over the iconic role.

The man who lit himself ablaze outside the Trump trial courthouse in NYC has died.

Max Azzarello was rushed in critical condition to a hospital Friday after he doused himself with a flammable liquid and set himself on fire outside Manhattan Criminal Court, where jury selection for Donald Trump's hush money criminal trial was winding down.

Azzarello, an alleged conspiracy theorist, died later that night from massive burns to his body.

Bill Maher has no kids, but he was all about them Friday night as he RAILED on Hollywood and others for putting them at risk.
