Tobey Maguire and his jewelry designer wife, Jennifer Meyer, are calling it quits after 9 years of marriage.

The couple married in 2007 after dating for about 4 years. They have 2 kids ... 9-year-old Ruby and 7-year-old Otis.

They told People ... “After much soul searching and consideration we have made the decision to separate as a couple. As devoted parents, our first priority remains raising our children together with enduring love, respect and friendship.”

Their statement never mentions the big D. It's unclear if either has filed legal separation or divorce docs yet.
