Hugh Hefner wants to make it clear ... the only thing in the can over at the bunny palace is film he whips out on movie night.

Hef posted this pic with wife Crystal Friday night, shooting down rumors like the cowboy on the screen.

TMZ broke the story ... law enforcement officials rushed to The Playboy Mansion Friday after rumors swirled that Hef kicked the bucket. We're told PBM staffers assured cops Hugh was fine, and Hef even gave them an A-Ok call.
