Ricky Schroder's Wife Files for Divorce

Ricky Schroder and his wife of more than 2 decades are calling it quits ... TMZ has learned.

Andrea Schroder filed divorce docs in L.A., citing irreconcilable differences. The couple got married in 1992, and the breakup comes just a couple weeks shy of their 24th anniversary.

They have 4 children -- 2 boys and 2 girls -- but only their daughter, Faith, is a minor. Andrea wants sole legal and physical custody ... with visitation for Ricky.

The "Silver Spoons" and "NYPD Blue" star made headlines for his decision to yank Faith from her middle school in Malibu a few years ago. He was concerned something in the school was causing a cancer outbreak after 3 teachers were diagnosed and several more complained of ailments.

Andrea's also demanding spousal support.

Ricky has said he became a more devout Mormon due to Andrea's involvement with the Church.

A couple months ago, she posted a pic of herself, apparently in Paris, and talked about her "new, less predictable future."
