'Happy Birthday' Song Lawsuit: Lawyers, Plaintiff Do a Sing-Along
'Happy Birthday' Song Lawsuit Lawyers, Plaintiff Do a Sing-Along
A bunch of lawyers belted out "Happy Birthday" outside an L.A. courthouse to celebrate a landmark victory involving the song, and ... they might wanna stick to the law.
The group performed Monday morning in downtown L.A. where a judge is set to approve a class action lawsuit settlement. The court already ruled Warner/Chappell doesn't own "Happy Birthday" ... so it can't charge licensing fees for it.
Now the parties have settled on a $14 million refund to anyone who did pay. Bottom line here -- expect to hear more of this in public. Thanks a lot, Lady Justice.
