KTLA Weathercaster -- Viewers Outraged at Cover-Up (VIDEO)

Chan says everyone should calm down ... the cover up was all for laughs. She says her co-anchor was just joking around and she was played along. She also wants to make it clear KTLA did not order her to put on the sweater.

An L.A. TV station is taking heat after an anchor stopped the weathercaster mid-report to offer her a jacket to cover up her body.

KTLA Meteorologist Liberté Chan was pointing to weather patterns on the map, but the anchor was more concerned about a cold front on her torso ... she was wearing what looked like a cocktail dress.

He gave her his coat, and some viewers felt it was body shaming ... although that doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Others felt the anchor humiliated Chan, with one viewer calling the anchor "deeply misogynistic and degrading as hell."
