French Montana: I'm the Jimmy Carter of Rap ... Just Ask Kanye West

When Kanye West was in a jam -- accused of dissing hip-hop legend Max B -- French Montana stepped in to save the day, and all it took was one phone call.

We got French heading into Jue Lan Club in NYC Monday night and gave him props on putting together the peace summit between 'Ye and the creator of the "wave" movement, jailed rapper Max B. West caught some flak when he flirted with naming his album, "Waves."

He explained how he squashed all that, getting Max's voice on "The Life of Pablo" -- then getting Kanye to rap on "Figure It Out" ... French's new track.

There's a gig at the U.N. waiting for FM ... when he's done rapping.
