Tom Brady put family before football Sunday night ... heading out to watch his son Benny play in a youth hockey game with Gisele at the same time as the AFC divisional playoff game.

The photo agency that obtained the photo tells TMZ Sports the picture was snapped at 7:15 PM ET -- right as Peyton Manning and the Broncos were punching their ticket to face the Pats in the AFC Championship game.

You'd think Brady would wanna watch the game live to scout out his opponent -- but Tom seemed to be more focused on supporting his adorable 6-year-old son instead.
