Jimmy Fallon's wedding ring will not make an encore performance on his finger once it heals.

Fallon -- who almost lost his ring finger last month in a freak kitchen accident -- told our photog there's still a place on his body for the ring ... just not his hand.

TMZ broke the story ... Fallon almost lost his digit when the ring got jammed on his kitchen counter. He spent 10 days in ICU.

Our Fallon sources say the ring was also damaged in the mishap, and it's currently at the jeweler being repaired.

And when our photog asked if the accident was some sort of bad omen, Fallon answered instantly.
