Out with the old, in with the new ... even when your new car looks just like the old one -- at least that's how the guys from "American Pickers" do things.

Mike Wolfe recently hooked himself up with a 2015 Ford Transit after co-stars Frank and Danielle prodded him for months to can the old ride.

We're told the old van had 275k miles on it and was starting to smell -- so they gave up on constantly paying to fix it.
