Reese Witherspoon Pleads No Contest, Hubby Pleads Guilty to DUI in Atlanta
Reese Witherspoon Pleads No Contest ... Hubby Pleads Guilty to DUI
Reese Witherspoon just pled no contest and her husband Jim Toth pled guilty in Atlanta to charges stemming from his DUI arrest and her bust for mouthing off to the arresting officer ... TMZ has learned.
Reese -- who was arrested for disorderly conduct April 19 after disobeying an officer's order to stay in the car -- pled no contest to the infraction. You'll recall during her husband's arrest an inebriated Reese asked the cop, "Do you know my name?" She also told him he was gonna be on national news.
Reese -- who was not present but represented by her lawyer, Bruce Morris -- entered the plea to physical obstruction of another and will pay a $213 fine, and that's it.
As for Jim, he was in court and pled guilty to driving under the influence. He'll get no jail time but he must perform 40 hours of community service and attend an alcohol education program. He's been placed on probation for 12 months.
The judge said to Jim, "Consider yourself fortunate you didn't injure your passenger [Reese] and didn't kill anyone."
This is an unusual move for celebrities, who often try and spin their legal woes. Reese was on GMA this morning ... saying she and Jim took full responsibility for their screw-ups and even admitted they exercised really bad judgment when he got behind the wheel drunk.
Her GMA appearance was just hours before Reese and Jim essentially said the same thing to a judge -- accepting responsibility and taking their lumps.
