After THOUSANDS of submissions ... super-famous DJ Deadmau5 has finally selected a winner in his worldwide search for a new "head" ... and of course, the mouse was drawn to the cheese.
After some crazy submissions, which included a "spider-mau5" ... a golden head ... and a skeleton-face .... the DJ picked the cheddar helmet ... designed by a guy named Lance Thackeray.
TMZ obtained photos ... shot when the two met up last week in NY ... and as promised, Deadmau5 rocked the winning dome piece during a performance later that night.
