Hilary Duff Helps Out in New Orleans
As the nation marks the first anniversary of the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, politicians, news crews and celebrities descend upon New Orleans. One of those celebrities is Hilary Duff.
Duff has worked with USA Harvest for two years. The organization likes to say that they aren't fundraisers, they are food-raisers. They help service over 5,400 agencies nationwide and have provided 11.6 billion pounds of food to those deserving organizations.
In the past year, Hilary has donated more than 2.5 million meals to hurricane victims in the south through USA Harvest.
For Hilary, lending her name and shining a light on a cause is the least she can do: "When you are a celebrity, and you have a voice that people pay attention to or a name that people watch and read about, it's the perfect opportunity to spread the word and get people motivated and to remember to help other people and give back."
