Sisters Doin' It For Themselves
Sisters Doin' It For Themselves
The hottest item for Hollywood starlets to tote around town can't be found at Kitson or any other boutique. These days the must-have accessory for every Lindsay, Paris or Britney is a fame-seeking and coattails-riding younger sister.
Here are a few Hollywood siblings that are forging a career out of their more famous sister's shadow.
Ashlee Simpson didn't want to be compared to her big sister Jessica so she dyed her hair black and "sang" more rock-oriented songs. In 2004, things
seemed to be working. Ashlee had a hit reality show on MTV and her album debuted at the top of the Billboard charts. But things went downhill after the infamous performance malfunction on "Saturday Night Live." After fans and radio stations lambasted the singer for lip-synching, sales and airplay seemed to stall. Seeking a change, Ashlee emerged in 2006 sporting a more Jessica-like blonde hairdo and an alleged nose job. Ashlee is growing up and finding herself; we just hope she does it before she loses any more fans.
While Britney Spears has been busy making babies and crying on Matt Lauer's shoulder, little sister Jamie Lynn has been hard at work on her budding acting career. After appearing in the ensemble cast of the Nickelodeon show "All That", Jamie Lynn landed the title role in the hit Nickelodeon series "Zoey 101." Jamie looks to have a bright future ahead of her -- just keep her away from any Federline brothers.
When your sister is Paris Hilton, it isn't so hard to be considered the quieter, more reserved one. While Paris was busy partying from
coast-to-coast, Nicky started her own fashion line called Chick. She recently added a jewlery line and is in talks to open a chain of boutique hotels. Nicky has even found succes in her love life and has been dating Kevin Connolly of "Entourage" for some time now. While it may be the name of Paris' reality show, it looks like Nicky is the one who has really found "the simple life."
Haylie Duff holds the distinction of being the one celeb sister who is actually older than her more famous family member. Ouch! But Haylie is making up for lost time. After appearing in "Napoleon Dynamite" and writing two songs on Hilary's album, Haylie landed a recurring role on "7th Heaven" and will make her Broadway debut this summer in "Hairspray." Haylie Duff is living proof that it's never too late to make it in Hollywood, even at the ripe old age of 21.
Even Lindsay Lohan's 12-year-old sister, Ali, is looking to get into the Hollywood game. She's in talks to host a Disney Channel show and is working on a Christmas album as we speak.
But Ashlee, Nicky or Haylie can't hold a candle to the media blitz that ensued when the latest Hollywood sibling burst onto the scene. On May 27 Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt was born leaving everything, including big sister Zahara, in her post-natal dust.
