Class Action Suit Filed Against James Frey, Publisher
A class action lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court in Seattle on Jan. 19 against James Frey and his publisher, Doubleday, after the recent admission that Frey fabricated a portion of his best-selling memoir, 'A Million Little Pieces.'
The documents allege that while the book was written in the first person and claimed to be a memoir, "in reality, Mr. Frey fabricated large portions of 'A Million Little Pieces,'" and that the publisher was "aware of these fabrications."
The suit seeks damages in the amount of the price of the book, as well as damages for the time spent reading the book.
