Don McLean 'American Pie' Songwriter Arrested for Domestic Violence
Don McLean -- the artist who wrote -- arguably -- one of the 3 best songs ever -- was arrested for domestic violence.
Cops in Camden, Maine responded at 2 AM Monday to a 911 call at McLean's residence. Cops arrested the singer for domestic violence assault -- a misdemeanor.
The arrest was without incident and after posting $10,000 bail he was released.
The mugshot -- first obtained by the Wiscassat newspaper -- was taken at the Knox County jail.
McLean performs only occasionally ... the last time at the Maine Lobster Festival back in August.
The singer/songwriter reportedly sold the handwritten lyrics to "American Pie" at Christie's auction house for $1.2 million.
