It's the last time we spoke to Heavy D before his death -- a mere 2 months ago -- and the guy was as awesome as ever ... discussing his new album, his stint on Broadway, and even his blossoming acting career.

D shot a scene for "Law and Order: SVU" in September (below) -- and he had big plans to do more acting work afterwards.
