Police raced to Sharon Stone's L.A. mansion early this morning, after the actress called 911, concerned that someone may have broken into the home -- fortunately, it was a false alarm.
TMZ has learned ... Stone personally called authorities around 2:00 AM when she heard a noise in the house -- and because she has such a long, storied history with obsessed fans ... she didn't take any chances and called police.
Once cops responded to the house, we're told officers checked out the situation and determined there was no sign of a break-in.
