Lindsay Lohan is telling friends she's "saddened" 89-year-old Betty White decided to rip on her to a British tabloid ... insisting Betty has no right to judge her.
A source close to the actress tells TMZ ... Lindsay isn't "angry" with Betty ... she's just disappointed the Hollywood legend would put her on blast while she's trying to get her life and career back together.
As we previously reported, White went after Lohan and Charlie Sheen to the Daily Mail -- saying she "cannot stand" their over-the-top lifestyles ... and noting, "They party too much, don’t learn their lines, are unprofessional, and they grumble about everything. I think they are terribly ungrateful.”
