ike turnerTMZ has confirmed that music legend and the former Mr. Anna Mae Bullock has died. He was 76.

Turner apparently died in his home in San Marcos, Calif., just outside of San Diego.

Sources close to the family tell TMZ he may have died in his sleep.

TMZ caught up with the R&B star back in May after the legend spent a night in jail after his bogus arrest over a recalled 1989 warrant.

Ike was married four times, most famously to Tina Turner. The famous singing duo had seven top ten R&B songs and famously divorced in 1978 amidst his constant abuse towards her.

Ike has four known children: sons Ike Jr., Michael, Ronald and daughter Mia.

The Recording Academy issued the following the statement about Turner's passing: "There is no doubt that Ike Turner was one of rock and roll's great architects with his genre-defying sound as an instrumentalist and bandleader ... As a two-time GRAMMY® Award winner and recipient of The Recording Academy's 2004 Heroes Award, Ike's legacy as a groundbreaking pioneer in the music industry will never be forgotten."

124. If he was as abusive as they say he was to Tina, very few will miss him. Though I respect his musical knowledge and genius, no man and I mean no man should physically or mentally abuse a woman or a child. Any man that beats a woman is a loser to the 10th power and would think twice before hitting another man. You hit a woman because you are a woman deep inside and resent it.

Last evening on Tuesday 12/11/07 my husband called me via his cell phone stating he was inside the Wells Fargo Bank on San Marcos Blvd. San Marcos, CA. He stated that Ike Turner was in the bank with an Asian woman requesting a loan. My husband stated that Ike Turner looked great.

It is amazing that only with 24 hours, Mr Turner is now found dead here in his San Marcos home where he has lived for many years.

I knew Ike Turner. Not as well as others, but I knew him. I saw him a few months ago at his in San Marcos.

And when I was there, TINA TURNER CALLED IKE ON THE PHONE, AND THEY WERE COOL!!!

She has forgiven him, the same way God has, and maybe all you negative freaks should try the same. No wonder you're all so miserable.

God I feel sorry for you both.

Ike discovered Elvis Presley, and invented Rock and Roll. Was he perfect? No. But learn to separate the art from the artist you freaks....

133. Ike was a pioneer for rock and roll. Maybe because of his death, people will learn just how important he was with the rock's beginings. He wrote "Rocket 88" in 1951 and rock historians agree that this was the first, true real rock and roll record.. He influenced many great guitarists and even had a young Jimi Hendrix in his Revue. He discovered Tina and created her persona which she still uses. He wanted a wild jungle-woman, She Tarzan singer for his band and got her with Anna Mae Bullock, AKA Tina Turner. He was an abuser but made ammends later n his life where he seemed to have found peace and happiness. I'm sure Tina is distressed as he was such an influential person in her life along with being the father to two of her children. She is a Buddhist and I'm
sure is privately mourning his death in her own way.

IKE THE CRY BABY SAID "NO" AND THEN THE JUDGE SAID TO IKE THAT HE WAS NOT THE JUDGE, AND WOULD NOT BE MAKING ANY DECISIONS FOR THE JUDGE.
THE JUDGE THEN TURNED TO TINA AND SAID THAT HER REQUEST WAS GRANTED!

IKE BLEW A FUSE, AND FOR MANY YEARS DID ALL THAT HE COULD TO TRY TO SCARE HER, HARASS HER, AND GET HER TO GO BACK TO HIM.
THEN HE WAS BUSTED FOR DRUGS AGAIN, JAILED A=G=A=I=N, AND SAID SHE WOULD NEVER BE AS FAMOUS AS SHE WAS WITH HIM.

FUNNY, THEN, THAT THE MOMENT SHE SET FOOT ON THE STAGE, AFTER A LONG BREAK, HER FANS WERE EXCITED TO SEE HER, AND EVEN BETTER--SHE GOT MANY AWARDS FOR "WHAT'S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT?" "PRIVATE DANCER" AND SHE EVEN PERFORMED WITH MICK JAGGER!
AND IKE?
HE LIVED THE REST OF HIS LIFE ON DRUGS, AND PENNILESS.
OH, AND HE WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO WRONG ABOUT TINA!!!

TINA, THANK YOU FOR GIVING MANY WOMEN THE COURAGE TO LEAVE THEIR ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIPS. WE ALL LOVE YOU VERY MUCH!!!
